I soak the bottles in a solution of PBW for half an hour then scrub with a bottle brush chucked in a battery powered drill.

I think new bottles would be fine after 5-10 minutes in a 5 gallon bucket filled with water to cover the bottles by a couple inches & 3-4 TBSP's of PBW. Scrub with bottle brush, rinse, then onto bottle tree to drip dry. then into case & 12 pack craft beer cartons to store till needed. I've tried to whittle my bottle collection down to 2 case boxes & one 12 pack box per batch, covering 5-6 batches. I used to have a lot more, but gave'em away, realizing I never did more than 4-5 batches at a time. :tank:

Oxyclean Free (green lid) works well, is quite similar to PBW and costs considerably less. Soak for an hour and rinse well. I use a bottle rinser that screws onto the faucet. Gives a good high pressure rinse and saves water.

My process is as follows:

1. Overnight soak in a laundry sink full of water + 2 scoops oxy clean (just the regular walmart stuff, because 'free' is hard to find in my area)
2. Rinse in hot water/acid bath (second laundry sink full of very hot water and a couple cups of vinegar)
3. Pile bottles in laundy basket to dry
4. Quick star san sanitization on bottling day

I can do 30-40 bottles at a time this way. Easist and most effective system I have found yet

Whoa! These are new bottles? Just a quick wash with a bit of soap (oxiclean, PBW, etc) then a double rinse. There shouldn't be any need to scrub or soak new bottles.

Oh haha.
Yeah if they're new there's no need to soak.
The above method is what I use to get rid of lables and fuzzies inside when bottling in reclaimed bottles
