hi all..been brewing for a while now...somebody ask me if i could spruce up a coopers ipa with citra hops..I bought a can of coopers ipa,1 lbs of dry malt,1lbs of corn sugar...Put 1 pound of dry malt and 1 lbs of corn sugar in 2 gallons of water .Brought to a boil threw in 1 onuce of citra hops, boiled for 15 min..Turned heat off and added another ounce of citra then whirlpooled it ..Put coopers ipa an wort in fermenter ,added cold water to 19 litres mark..Waited for temp to go down to 25 C and pitched yeast..When bubbles slowed down dry hoped 1 ounce of citra.for 4 days..Then kegged it..Gased it for two days
.first glass was great then the next taste like wood...not a good taste..can u tell me what went wrong.....i did two batches the same way and both turned out the same...

Can you describe the flavor a bit more? Woody, or maybe grassy? Wood taste sounds like oxidation to me. And while I'm a big fan of getting beers kettle to glass as fast as possible, I think you may have rushed this one a bit. Did the previous one have the same flavor all the way through the keg?

woody is a good word for it..almost like chewing on a stick...same flavour all the way though on the first batch...maybe a hint of citra flavor ...funny thing is the first glass was great then went down hill...cant see oxidation everything was tite...siphoned from the bottom valve on ferm to bottom of keg with star san snake coming out the top...just doesnt make sense...maybe bad hops..pellets looked nice green and oily
