I bought a Cip ball to clean in place my conical fermenter. Got all the tubes etc. Got a 1/5 hp sump pump as well as a bucket heater to heat the liquid PBW. Things were going great on the test run and I was running hot PBW through the CIP ball/fermenter. Decided to do a 30 minute trial and did some other things. At 15 minutes my pump stopped. Went over and looked and it was completely burned out. The water temperature was 140. After a little research it turns out the sump pump max temperature is about 120. So my question is, aside from buying a expensive nano pump, how are people running hot cleaner through their CIP without burning out their pumps?

what kind of pump do you have? i pump my near boiling wort through a pump, then through a plate chiller and i haven't had any issues.. you sure it didn't burn out if the liquid was locked for a time period?

I've been using a rigid 1/3 hp pump from Home Depot for a year or two. My hot water heater is set to about 130-135.

It is a superior brand 1/4 hp sump pump. My chugger pump isn't strong enough to get the pressure /volume high enough for the CIP to work effectively. After I burned out the motor I looked on the sump pump specifications and 120 is the max. Yes I will send back the bucket heater.

I use a chugger max for brewing and CIP. Works great, when I use my sump pump to clean kegs it will over heat after while even using 120* water. I try to do less than 10 min per keg.
