looks sweet! sorry if i missed this somewhere but what are those couplings welded in with the plugs in them for?

That is a sexy looking stand....I look at my stand in progress, and it is way ugly by comparison. I think that once I get all grain brewing down and I work all the kinks out of my system I might try to build one as nice as yours...someday. You may have already posted this, but how much did you spend on your steel for the frame/structure?

$200.00 bucks

That sounds very reasonable. You getting some kind of deal? I'm trying to figure out cost on my stand. That price is great.

I thought the steel was a bit expensive compared to what they get it for at my brothers work. I got it through a local fabricator. ...But, it was a 1 time (unless I build another (hmmm...???)) expense, and you cant just walk into TSC and buy that much heavy steel. For the project, and a guy like me not buying this stuff everyday, it was an ok deal.

Chris,

First off, thanks for sharing this and your instructional videos! Any plans to show (video) the maiden voyage and maybe overview of the build?

Cheers!

Joe

Can't wait to watch the newest videos (i hope). Your vids got me into all grain brewing. Really made it look possible and gave me confidence.

I might show a little clip with a link back here. I don't know about making anymore videos. I got so bombarded with emails last time I had to just stop responding, which sucks because I'm all about free information.

The build is easy if you or a buddy can weld.
Buy steel, cut pieces, weld it up, grind it up, paint.

I strongly urge those doing a gas manifold to have it totally TIG welded shut, and then MIG welding it in place.

Goof off or mineral spirits to take the sticky sticker crap off...

Fine pad...

The one on the left is the only one I used the #5 compound on. I may just leave it like this... It is a lot of work...

Thanks Bobby! :)

I didn't notice that you got it powder coated at Todd's place. He's good people, I used to race sprint cars with him.

Beautiful! That last shot with the buffed keggles set up is a great climax to the series of pics. It looks great with the rack done up in Chevy Orange.

A long road you've travelled from the rectangular cooler I remember in your older videos. :mug:

Thanks. After I took that shot I had to stop and stare at it for a minute. :)

Those videos seem like so long ago.
I still have all that stuff. I think my cousin is going to acquire most of it. Its funny when your buying your 1st kettle you think that 8 gallons is all your going to need... HAHAHA.... I used that for a long time though.

Next time we brew, we might have to do it in my back yard... There's no way I'm lugging this thing over.. :)

the Grutus we built is on casters. makes it easier to roll in and out.
yours looks beefy enough you could weld a 2" ball hitch to the front and a
small chevy s-10 axle undernieth and pull that thing down the street.:tank:
:rockin:
looking great. that should last through the grand kids.

Mock chill setup:
I planed to recirculate my chill this way until I got down to desired temps but I think I'm going to have a problem priming the pump.

I chill with a similar setup, but with a CFC. If you put the pump before the plate chiller, you shouldn't have a problem priming the pump.

Thats wicked man nice job. your videos on youtube also helped me alot, i should be brewing tomorrow my first all grain! thanks man.

Chris, Nice job on your rig. I agree with drunkatuw, you should go from BK to pump then out to chiller. That's what I do and have no priming problems, then from chiller to fermenter.
