I was wondering if there was a negative reason not to chill starter wort in the fridge after boiling? I boil the starter in a stainless steel pot with the lid on so I'd think the inside of the pot would be steam sanitized meaning contamination shouldn't be a problem as long as I leave the lid on. I'm sure it'll take longer than an ice bath but I'm not concerned with the wait, I try to time my starter to spend about 18 hours on the stir plate and that typically means I'm boiling the starter later in the evening than I'd prefer. I know an ice bath is easy but I have an old fridge without an ice maker so I'm making cubes the old fashioned way for the ice bath.
