Hello folks! I'm new to HBT and have been homebrewing for three years.

I started when I lived in Australia and was working part time at a microbrewery. Since returning to the states, I've picked up the pace with brewing and trying new and weird recipes and ingredients.

Ideally, I try to squeeze a brew day every two weeks or so. I'm about to get started on growing my own hops (Centennial, Chinook, and Serebrianka) and could probably use a few pointers on how to get the best yield out of a few plants.

You might see me in the sections that have strange ingredients, Aussie/NZ hops, and weird recipes.

You are relatively close to me. My cascade hops have done really well over the last three years - and are already shooting up. I have a few spare rhizomes I am culling out if you want some cascade.

I have mine in a raised bed to prevent them from getting out and taking over - they are very, very aggressive growers and can spread if not contained. And they love water but don't like drowning.

Welcome from Libertyville! Just a bit east and north of you. We have club at the brew store in town good group with all levels of brewers. Third Thursday of the month at 7 pm. I'm usually brewing a few Sunday's a month and all are welcome.

That sounds pretty awesome Mirthfuldragon! :D What sort of a yield do you get with Cascade hops?

Sounds really good! I could definitely use a few pointers on a few brews that I've made. Is it alright to bring a few bottles for "show n tell"? :ban:

Absolutely feel free to bring some beers. We usually start at between 6:45 and 7 with a quick tasting and intro's, then business and then back to sharing.

Next meeting is this Thursday the 18th.

I netted 14oz after drying at the year 3 harvest - 10oz of which went into a dry-hopped SMaSH ale that came out aggressive and unbalanced in a good way. Another ounce is playing nicely with amarillo and citra in a pale what reminiscent of Three Floyds Gumballhead. The rest is sitting vacuum sealed in the freezer.
