last couple batches gravity has been way low... no matter what recipe... two different hydrometers... and I was reading and then had a question... do I fill my vessel up, THEN take a siphon and check... I have been checking right from the draining tube. Cant remember when, sometimes in the beginning and middle... etc... Does it matter?

thanx

It would make a huge difference if you were doing all grain. Unless you mean draining from your BK to the fermenter. Then it shouldn't have any effect. Are you correcting for temp?

Lately I stir my wort before taking a sample. I've had some curious readings right out of the valve.
