Deer Park water is now shipping a many products in PET #1 bottles. Particularly interesting are their 3 liter bottles with a wide mouth opening. They are great bottles, but the opening is too large for a #7/universal stopper and too small for a #9 stopper (1L Erlenmeyer)...

Try a #8 Stopper. Other than that, it sounds good, I might have to look out for these.

Thanks! I was wondering what might come between a #7 and a #9. JK! :p

Seriously though, is anyone using a #8 for their carbuoy? Judging from my #7's fit, I think a #8 might be too big for the carbuoy, but it'd probably fit the Erlenmeyer just fine..

These 3L bottles are neat. They are cylindrical, about 4" round, with a flat top an flat/concave bottom. It looks more like a plastic coffee can than a bottle. Look at the other sizes/shapes as well. These and others were marked with a big gold 'sticker' that said "Now in PET" which seems to indicate that they are making a transition. All the ones I checked from 20oz -> 3 gal were PET #1.

Can't beat a 3L PET bottle for $1.09...

I was thinking about doing some small batches in these bottles. Has anyone actually used one of these? How did it turn out?
