I just bottled one 22oz of a 10.4% brew, using 8 carbtabs. Will that work?

Are carb tabs relative to ABV%?

A month ago I had some flat pliny the younger (ABV 11%) and tried to re-carbonate it with the ctabs and that didn't work...

yea i've heard it's champane yeast for big beers to be able to carb in the bottle. Those yeasties are stressed already and a carb tab probably won't ferment out without new yeast at least.

The amount of priming sugar you use only determines the carbonation level. The more priming sugar (carbonation tabs) you use, the more carbonated your beer will be. If the beer has exceeded the yeast's alcohol tolerance, no amount of priming sugar will work.

If you're using Munton's tabs, eight of them seems about right for a 22 oz bottle. If you're using Cooper's drops, eight of them will likely create a bottle bomb.
