Carbonator cap and smaller plastic soda bottles

Does anyone use a plastic carbonator cap with a bottle smaller than a 1 or 2 liter plastic soda bottle? I have a 1 L soda bottle and it works just fine. I bought a 500 ml Pepsi bottle and no matter what I do, the cap doesn't make an air tight seal. I have some 12 oz bottle of home brew that's undercarbed so I was looking for a smaller bottle to try to add some carbonation to it.

Its not the bottle size but the brand, i regularly use small 0.5l bottles that work fine. Some brands never work because they use a different style of screw thread for the cap. Just get other bottles.

Do you know which brand specifically?

I have 0.5L sunkist bottles that fit my carb cap just fine.

Not really, im from switzerland and most brands are different. Coca Cola Bottles work for example. Evian water bottles don't.
