On my last 2 batches, I have had problems with some bottles being nearly flat. I would get the hiss when popping the cap but after pouring into glass the head would disappear immediately and not much carbonation when drinking.

I bottled one 5 gallon batch between 3 different bottle sizes. 12oz, 16oz ez cap and some 22oz bombers. I used the 5oz of priming sugar that came with the northern brewer extract kit.

Could using the different sized bottles make a difference? Some were more carbed then others but there was no clear answer since each size had some flat beer.

Since the disparity in carbonation occurred with all sizes, I don't think the bottle size is an issue. If the sugar is evenly mixed, it should be in the same proportion in any size container.

What is your process for mixing the sugar with the beer? What works for me is to boil the sugar in a small amount of water, pour it in the bottling bucket, then rack the beer on top of it. Gently stir with a long-handled spoon, making sure you don't draw air into the beer. Then bottle.

It could be a few things. Since the caps hiss, I would assume your your capper works fine and the caps aren't leaking. I've had EZ cap bottles get flat from leaking gaskets. I've also seen larger bottles take longer to carb, but eventually they will if everything else is ok. What temperature are the bottles kept while conditioning? Are they too cold and the yeast aren't doing their thing? Did they get too hot and kill the yeast? Since this is a kit from NB everything should be measured correctly.

MaxStout, that is exactly how I mix the priming sugar.

Edf713, bottles were kept in room that stayed around 68-75 degrees. I usually sample one bottle after 2 weeks then 2 bottles after 3 weeks. I also set aside about 10 bottles to condition for a month or 2.

Then it's not time, temp, priming sugar amount, and probably not bottles/caps. You didn't age it for a long time, and I take it nothing unusual with bottle washing/sanitizing? Outside of those, I'm not sure what else it could be. My flat bottles have all been leaky grolsch gaskets that I should have replaces sooner.

Nothing out of the ordinary with bottle sanitation. Have a cream ale in fermenter now and will bottle in a few days. Plan on logging every step of the way to see what happens and have somethi my to go by if they come out flat again
