Lets say I bottled 2 beers and forgot which was which. Can I pull a cap off (after they're carbed) test a beer, and then recap it?
What are the potential adverse effects?

You are in one hell of a pickle my friend. What a dilemma! Tell you what, you send me both batches and I'll sample and label them for you.

j/k Yes, you can open a bottle and find out. Sanitize well, right?

j/k j/k send me your beer!!

Based on the OP - I'm assuming you have two seperated batches of 48ish bottles - right?

If so, forget the prying off and recapping bit - drink one of each, label, problem solved...

If the bottles are mixed... have fun!

+1

No need to recap if they aren't mixed and both are ready to drink. If they are mixed, it'll make choosing which beer to drink easier. :D
