'Cleanse the body' of what exactly? Specific compounds that are in our food that need to be removed? Something that can only be taken out of your body by starving yourself, instead of watching what you eat if you're trying to avoid certain things?

NOTE: This is a long winded subject that I have some knowledge on. It will probably derail the tread but I will attempt to keep this short as possible.

My father HATED, to the core of his self, the medical community and the food industry was a close second. The reason I mention this is because 99.9% of people agree that good health is tied to good nutrition. Ask a medical student how much they are learning about nutrition and advanced nutrition in school...and try to not be shocked when they look at you like a deer in the headlights...

I do not think that food has been food for years, as the definition of why we eat food. We have witnessed the removal of nutrition and life from grocery stores. "You want to have life, then eat life" is something my father would say regularly on the subject. I can 95% tell you that if your food comes in: a box, can or sealed container, it is probably no longer living or has living enzymes. Mix in the chemicals and GMO foods (Genetically modified foods) and you get a pretty lethal concoction.

The sad part is we are all poisoned before birth. The DOW chemical corp. Proudly presents: Teflon! This stuff is in EVERY LIVING ANIMAL ON EARTH!!! They have even found it in polar bears...What this directly means? Chemicals are everywhere. I am not saying that Teflon is bad for you but I am just going to guess it is not good for you.

I've often heard this term 'Cleanse the body' being used to remove, say 'toxins', but it seems finding a concrete description of exactly what these toxins are except for a nebulous concept is daunting.

MY answer to this, yes "toxins". What these are specifically will vary from person to person. I am NOT a subject matter expert...

What I think "toxins" include:
Chemicals, metals, dead cells, poisons, disease and can even run into the scope of bad stress/emotional turmoil. I also think the toxin term is used really loosely.

Any any case, good on anyone that is trying to better themselves. :mug:

Lots of great information coming in this thread, Zamial do you think that there is anywhere that we can still get healthy food? I watch alot of food documentaries and its downright scary to see whats being done to us nowadays. I eat a lot of raw tomatos and cucumbers and its sad to know that when I buy them from places like the fresh veggies section of walmart that there is no telling what kind of chemicals have been put in them.

I'm going to drop out of this conversation right here, as my views obviously don't mesh with yours, and will likely cause an argument off-topic: as such, I'm going to respectfully disagree, and attempt to bring the topic back to one concerning making/consuming beer.

Alright I will tell you you can live on beer and food only! I have really only drank beer or JD for the last 15 years. I only drink maybe 4-5 8oz glasses of water a week. I drink coffee in the morning and coffee with lunch but when I get off work it is beer and more beer. I am fairly healthy (the doc says I'm fine I even told him so he could keep an eye on my liver) 47 years old and only take colesterol meds. I am not over weight, 5'11" 180 lbs. Don't really exsercise but walk alot at work.
It really has been alot of years and I feel really pretty good.

Now you guys are making me thirsty and I have 3 more hours of work!

How many beers do you think you drink in a day and still keep your clean bill of health with the doc?

Why I think you just may be able to pull it off with the right combo :) See explanation below picture.

nutrition-pyramid.gif

Bread/Base - Pale Ales, Wheat Beer, Stouts, etc... (6-11 servings)

Fruits & Veggies - Raspberry Wheat, Cherry Stout, Pumpkin Ale, etc...(5-9 servings)

Milk - Add some powered milk to the boil of your stouts (2-3 servings)

Beans - See if you can mash some chickpeas, navy beans, or cashews :cross: be sure to use a rice adjunct to make a complete protein! :cross: (2-3 servings)

Sweets - Chocolate Stout!

There we did it! lol :mug:

Now we are talking, we're going from concept to actual plan, I love it.

A doc like this:

true that, lol, I guess the general consensus is that beer alone or even beer for a majority of the diet just isn't going to work, well I tried, haha!
