Not that my comment is in any way valid to the topic but...telling someone to skip Pizza Boy and opt for Troegs instead is certainly a first.

I dont visit either place with any regularity anymore but id rather drink Terry's worst offering at Pizza Boy than waste my time at Troegs drinking the same old boring **** and have to scream at the person beside me just to carry on a conversation.

Pizza Boy is like the beer nerd version of an all you can eat gourmet buffet whereas Troegs is like...McDonalds.

Troegs is Mcdonalds? Now that is a first! If Pizza Boy is a gourmet buffet then 90% of the offerings are ****.

Convinced that they have a deal with whoever makes Ellio's Pizza toppings. Seems like all of their toppings, **** even their crust, comes from the same place that provides Ellio's with their ingredients. Food is very very average at PB.

A buddy of mine has a trade lined up for all 4 of the Keepers bottles, plus the other 10 or so bottles from this weekend's anniversary event at DG. Seems like a pretty fine exchange.

its hard to answer this... last time you could arrive at opening time or a little after and get your bottles since there was less people than allotments in attendance

this release there are more bottles to go around but grrrz has also increased significantly in popularity and it seems like it is drawing people in from much further away. i imagine those folks driving these significant distances will up the ante to make sure they maximize the "worth" of their trip. (this isnt meant to be a jab at anyone, just saying people traveling 3 or more hours will make sure they dont go home empty handed.)

last time i arrived on friday night so that i could have a pint of everything new to me that they had on tap. they also had a small band playing and we ended up drinking till closing time. i met some great people that evening and we ended up having a small bottle share that lasted into the wee hours when the line started to form... so we got in line too even though it was our intention to get a nap in before getting in line.

i think it all boils down to how much time you have to burn. the benefit to getting in line early is that you can get your bottles and grab a table (or get back in line like many have mentioned doing.) the downfall to being in the back of the line is that, it will likely be standing room only by the time you get your bottles and you have the wait to buy your bottles as they funnel people through making purchases

So the question is...what time to get in line? The only release I ever attended was the Oud 15 release. We got there at like, 5 AM for a noon opening. We could have stood to get there much later, as we passed through the line more than a few times...it just wasn't that well attended. But as others have stated, this is a different animal in light of the last Grrrz release. Still...400 people is a lot. Period. Tired Hands, for instance, is in the middle of a huge metropolitan area and is lucky to draw 2-300 for a release. Williamsport is in the middle of ******* nowhere and this release will support 400 people on Saturday alone. Not saying it doesn't have the potential to draw that many people, but...I just don't know. I'm hoping a 3-5AM arrival time for a 9AM opening is sufficient lead time.

People show up at Tired Hands at 5-7 AM for a noon release. If you think it's absurd for people to be in line between 3-5AM for a 9 AM release for something as anticipated as this, I think you may be in for a big surprise. Absurd or otherwise.

The line for Oud 15 started at 5 AM for a noon release.

Just some examples. I don't know what to expect. I just don't have an intention of dragging my ass up to Williamsport to find myself at the end of a 200 person line, much less and 300 or 400 person line. I want to get in, get the **** out, and go home. But that's my approach to most releases...so I generally tend to arrive on the early side of things. I'll bet many people close down Bullfrog Friday night and hop straight in line upon exiting. More than a few have mentioned doing so.

You're probably right. There will probably be more than a few people who bottleshare somewhere in Williamsport Friday night or that close down Bullfrog...all of whom will probably go from one or another straight to the line. Was really hoping not to have to come up the night before for this. Absurd indeed.

I'm going to be getting in line around 6-7ish and I still think that's way too early, but I want all the bottles. I could care less how many times I get to go through the line or who all is in front of me, as long as I'm in the top 400...

Do not show up at 3 am. Don't be dumb. 1 hour before they open is early enough to get everything.

Edit: It doesn't matter if people decide to get in line after Bullfrog closes. Of course there will be, but there won't be 400 people getting in line at midnight/2 am/3 am or even 6 am.
