Hi, Friends of The Bruery!

The next couple days are packed with releases - we hope you'll stop in to try some of these newly tapped beers some time soon!

Mocktail Night

Tonight, Thursday, June 25, we'll be kicking off the weekend (prematurely) with a tiki-inspired mocktail called S.O.S. This mocktail is a mix of Trade Winds Tripel, pineapple & coconut simple syrup, lime juice and a little bit of Donns spice mix. The result is a perfect mix of tropical sweet, sour and booze. To kick up the authentic tiki nature of the drink, we had custom tiki glasses made, which we'll be selling as well. Both glasses and S.O.S. will be available at 5:30 p.m. tonight, while supplies last.

Beret Release

On Friday, we'll continue our recent streak of sour releases with our newest Bruery Terreux release: Beret (pronounce it like the little French hat.) Beret is a full-bodied wheat ale that we began fermenting with a Belgian witbier yeast strain. To finish the fermentation, we added our collection of lactic acid-producing bacteria, intended to slowly sour the ale, bringing out a slight funk and refreshing piquancy. Finally, a small dose of pureed raspberries were added for just a hint of fruity tannins, putting the berry in Beret. The bottle and draft release of Beret in the Tasting Room will begin when we open at noon tomorrow.

$1 Donation Drive Beers

This month, we've been releasing some of our favorite brews as part of a donation drive for the National Teen Leadership Program; and, this week is no exception. This Friday, we'll be tapping kegs of 2013 Bottleworks XII and 2014 Melange #3 as part of our donation drive, with one dollar from each of those sales going towards this month's non-profit. It's a win-win: you get a great beer and help out a great cause as well.

Food Trucks

As always, we have a full lineup of food trucks planned for this weekend:

  • Thursday, June 25: Bacon Mania will be visiting. Bacon pairs well with tiki-inspired mocktails.
  • Friday, June 26: the Hobo Pizza Company will be here when we open and Falasophy will take over around 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 27: The Cut will be here at 5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 28: We'll round out the weekend with the Viking Truck all afternoon.

Lagers? Are they going to bottle Humulus?!?!?!

I wish they would keep Humulus as a permanent taproom offering. It would be nice to have a hoppy beer to cut all the sweet booziness that is always being offered. I really enjoyed Ride that Pony(Hoppy Brown) yesterday to break all the 16% plus tasters i tried.

I have had Humulus only once when Lord Hobo had a keg and was underwhelmed. Is it so highly rated because of those sweet beers as an option? I could only compare it to some fresh Jacks Abby stuff and it fell well short.

I think it's outstanding, and I also really REALLY enjoy Jacks Abby stuff.

They want us to decide if we're re-upping by August 30th? Pretty sure I know my answer, but that's awful early and some good beers later in the year could sway my decision.
Yeah August is pretty early and tbh I've been in the RS for 4 years now and starting to get tired of it. I wish they'd do things like bottle the high gravity stuff in 12 oz or 375 ml bottles and reduce prices a little bit. I'm sure it costs a lot to make BT but $30/bottle? Plus getting everything shipped throughout the year gets costly. I think next year I'll opt out and just buy more bourbon and local beers.

I think I'm gonna opt for the "save this chunk of change for a few trips/year to visit our friend Trevor" membership program.

Same for me. I'd rather drive to DG from Seattle 4 times per year and buy amazing bottles for 1/3 or 1/4 the price of RS stuff. It makes me feel like a king sitting on cases of DG for the same price as a full Black Tuesday allotment.

I've had Humulus a number of times and think it absolutely stands up to Hoponius Union, it's easily my favorite beer the Bruery makes.

What's wrong with Mash & Grind?

What's wrong with Mash & Grind?
The Bruery had one specific bottling run of the 2014 batch that was infected. They held those cases back, knowing it was bad, but somehow they ended up using some of the infected bottling run to fulfill RS/HS pickups earlier in 2015 (they kept the bottles around to pour in the tasting room since they could monitor the infection that way). I would need to look back through the massive thread on BA to figure out the details, but I know that they didn't use the infected batch for pickups until February or March of this year. If you picked your M&G up before then, it's safe.

And addressing the issue, it was a logistics **** up far more than a brewhouse **** up - yeah, there was an infection, but they caught it during QC so I wouldn't ding them for it. Not keeping track of a pallet of bad beer is a separate problem, and sort of speaks to the whole lack of attention to detail that I've commented on, but it affected a small percentage of members and they're making good on it.

Edit: beat to the punch...
