Great month. Any HS members have the description of Flanders Giant they can post?

The Flanders Giant™
14.2% abv
$19.99 - $15.99
Purchase Limit: 3 bottles
Hoarders Society Exclusive

After a day spent wandering the cool, dark corridors between our stacks of beer resting within barrels, the notion for The Flanders Giant was born. Constructed by blending select barrels of our most baroque beer, The Flanders Giant takes what our team loves best about tart, Flemish beers and boozy American-style barrel aged ales. Notes of leather, black plums, and tart cherries are accented by sturdy, American oak & whiskey. It's Flanders beauty matched with American drama.

I hope 2 of these beers are Mystery Beer #1 and #2

if not that means 4 new previously unlisted beers leaving 35 "excepted releases" to go in 6 months...

I was thinking the same thing. Don't they usually say in the email though that it's a mystery beer?

It's interesting how attitudes about the Bruery's blends seem to ebb and flow. They got no end of **** for Bois Fume and Smooth Criminal, yet Melange #12 (Melange 3 with adjuncts) and Flanders Giant (a blend of undisclosed beers) have people excited. I realize that there are some differences in the two situations (namely, exclusivity and a lack of Smoking Wood in the new blends), but people got tremendously anti-blend for a while last year.

I'm not sure if it's a matter of a lot of the more vocal critics dropping out, the tone of Bruery discussions being more positive in general, or simply the specifics of the beers involved, but it's quite a shift from where things were in early 2014.

Not as many infected releases coupled with lack of Smoking Wood (which most ppl hate). EZ

The bitching will come when Bruery is blasting 8 beers+ out the last 2 months, or we get the inevitable email from them about beers being canceled.

Well, everyone who drank Smooth Criminal realized that was in error. Bois Fume and Smokey and the Bois earned the **** given.

These also have adjuncts, which people get irrationally excited about.

Doc If you want any of these let me know and we can work something out. Still trying to slow down on purchases so won't max out.

ya know what they say... if it aint "baroque", don't fix it....

so...this is kinda random thought/observation and partly valid for this topic

for the past couple months ive been revisiting beers ive drank previously but had an extra tucked away in the cellar. i recently drank saison and tripel tonnellerie, saison lente and saison rue. these beers are ******* fantastic. perhaps its just the change in season and im loving saisons right now but man these "plain jane" non adjunct laden brews are awesome.

feels good to rewind sometimes and remember that this brewery is capable of making fantastic classic, plain beers

^ Agreed. I opened a Rueuze with Gene and everyone on line at Kane on Saturday, and it was doing pretty well (although, Rivertown's gueuze is not exactly a hard act to follow). I've been meaning to check back in on the Tonnellerie beers.
