Isn't that essentially the niche that Hottenroth is supposed to fill?

kind of, but I want something a little more interesting. I enjoy Hottenroth as a beer to drink on a hot day, but not the best with a meal.

New Reserve member. Drank my first bottle last weekend--fantastic. Curious how well it holds up over time. Anyone drank a bottle a year later?

Had one a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was still great, though I kept it in the fridge for most of its life. I have had some others that has slight green pepper

Totally agreed -- the coffee fades toward green pepper if not kept refrigerated. Definitely not one that will improve over time, but you don't need to pound them right away.

She also told me that **** wasn't infected and not to believe everything in the forums. So I'd take that with a grain of salt.

FYI... for those interested, there are 516 Hoarders this year. (I counted the names on a page in their binder then multiplied it by the pages). So I suppose that the infection issues didn't result in fewer memberships. Xul will remember last year's number, but I think it was in the 430s.

442 was the number last year, I don't remember who posted it originally but they saw the last sheet and it was numbered. I'd be really curious to get an accurate number for RS, I've always estimated that around 1500 people but that's based on inferences that are a year or two old now.

Yeah that was me, signed off on the last page for a piece of merch so it showed the total number of pieces going out. I sometimes trustee for a RS member in the Y's so I'll take a look next time, haha.

Thanks, I'm honestly a bit surprised that they managed to grow Hoarders and maintain 2000 RS members but I'm clearly a bit more jaded than the average person these days. Curious to see next month's allocations, and hoping for Sour in the Rye to hit soon. Not as exciting as others, but it's one of their reliably good beers that I'll be looking to stock up on.

I think only people outside of Orange County are surprised by the Bruery's performance. The tasting room is pretty busy every time I've gone.

The tasting room has been constantly busy for a couple years now, I don't think it's necessarily a reflection of people being willing to spend $300 on the RS.

Demand for RS Spots is greater than Supply of RS Spots

I'm willing to bet that in the near future (as early as next year 2016 society) the only way into RS will be as a Preservation as they have access to join before the public

The tasting room is always busy and jammed packed because even before they opened it, it was horribly unfit to handle any more folks than the space in the old tasting room. It's just a poorly designed and laid out space.

I miss the days of the old tasting room, the provisions store, and boring old Oude Tart, Rugbrod, Hottenroth, and some fancy cheese.

Because just over $11 including tax for 32oz Mash & Grind was too good of a deal for me to pass upon on Friday. Although it was a tough choice! I wish they allowed us to have several.

Mango Hottenroth was a hoarders exclusive blend for HS members in 2014.

They've been promising it to us since August of last year (surprise surprise) and even included a blurb in their last 2014 member email that said:

Mango Hottenroth is taking it's time to bottle condition, as is standard for our Berliner Weisse yeast culture. It is likely that we won't be able to release this beer until January, but don't worry if you aren't continuing on as a member in 2015, you'll still be able to get your bottles as promised. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
