I hope it's a freak bottle too as I got 2 more of these damn things.
Out of curiosity, did you have MW when it was fresh in 2014? There was some interesting fruitiness from the coffee, and coffee beers can sometimes throw off a bit of acetaldehyde, but if it's the sour apple like White Chocolate 2013, that's a really bad sign. Especially with gushing.

No I didn't have last yrs mw, but I've been around the block with coffee stouts. It's lik wc13 but worse.

Thanks, definitely wasn't trying to question your palate, I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around how they managed to have an infection that's so far along right after release. Really curious to see how this one plays out.

My bottle was bottled on November if that helps.

Acetaldehyde dissipates over time, no?
If there's something alive to process it, yes. They don't bottle condition and any remaining Sacch would be overwhelmed in that environment. If it's infected, the Brett/bacteria could probably clean it up, but the acetaldehyde would be the least concerning aspect if it's infected.

happy i read this thread today. saved me from a stupid decision.

Someone else on the other site reported the same issue that I experienced. Gusher bottle, weird tart/fruitiness. Seems to be a batch issue. Glad your bottle were just fine.

Are there different batches of it? You (and the other person) should report it to The Bruery to see if there's a connection between the 2 and have them test similar bottles.

No clue if there are different batches. I reported my batch, so hopefully he does as well. At this point, I find it highly unlikely that only 2 bottles of the entire MW are infected, hoping its a smaller bottle batch issue. The bottle I opened was bottled 11/24 and the rest of bottles are the same. Just reading reviews, seems to be a smaller subset of bottles as most are fine.

Hoping the rest of mine are fine. I seem to be a roll lately with picking infected bottles. :-/

For those who are curious, my batch number of MW was BL#187. I've read of a few other infected bottles, but majority seem to be ok. I emailed the Bruery with my batch numbers, and asked for non-infected MW bottles instead of a refunded $. Anyone that cracks a MW, post your batch number + results here please, I'm curious if yours in #187 as well.

I'm not sure what surprised me more today, the guy picking up his 10 RS memberships (not trustees they were all his) or this

That background makes that site completely ******* unreadable. I wanted to punch my screen trying to read that.

Edit: I clicked again and they apparently fixed it, now it's a white background and the ad is limited to the borders...but before that, the "cloud scene" made up the entire background and the words were unreadable.
