Why would the Pineapple on 22 be BA 5 Golden Rings?

"5 Golden Rings is the 5th verse in our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ winter seasonal ale series. The only golden ale in the bunch, we spiced up the natural pause in the classic song with cinnamon, allspice and ginger along with the delicious sweet and tangy flavor of pineapple. The resulting ale is a true holiday treat that can be enjoyed fresh or cellared until 2019, when 12 Drummers Drumming will be released."

Melange 9 had pineapple right?

Nope: "This sour ale was the winner of our Hoarders Society blending competition. A combination of our sour blonde, Sour in the Rye, and White Oak Sap along with Ginger and Coconut. "

Ahh, I was thinking it was a pina colada beer

I would've sworn it was. Either way it was garbage, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to offload more of them because no one bought any.

The **** are you talking about? I thought it was delicious and so did everyone else I shared it with. Not quite as good as the SitR version in a side by side but still damn good. Would happily take your bottles.

I didn't buy any because I was confident it would be garbage. Everyone in my group hated it, admittedly I was the most. I could barely stomach it. Worst beer of the year candidate for me.

Thank god there's only a few more weeks of stupac2 being a Society member. I'm not sure who's worse you in the Bruery threads or SeaWatchman in the Hill Farmstead thread. At least he's entertaining :) I understand the disappointment with the Bruery and what not, and also understand that you've moved on to the SARA and Rare Barrel as the new latest and greatest thing.

Stu is pretty far from a Rarrel fanboy.

Stu has a point.

Seriously, go back and read this thread at the beginning of the year. Everyone had so much optimism. Then The Bruery, in true fashion, started screwing everything up. As a result, in the past 30 pages, people have sure changed their tune. Even the die-hard apologists are beginning to see that The Bruery is no longer a craft brewery whose purpose is to make the best beer possible.

Now they're just another Rogue/New Belgium/Dogfish Head/*insert ****** adjunct-laden brewery here*. They're doing the same thing as those breweries...they're just using better base beers.

FWIW, I didn't have much optimism coming into this year so I'm not as disappointed. The few bright spots for me (including M9) were enough to keep me from being totally pissed off. I do have high hopes for next year though based off next year's lineup, so if they bungle it again that might be it for me.

I don't think "adjunct-laden" is the correct complaint because there are plenty of sought after/well respected adjunct-laden stouts and sours out there now (and given some of The Bruery's success in adjuncting out ****/Mash it makes me wonder the quality of the base beers at those other places). I think the bigger issue is the gimmicks of the beers now (starting with Or Xata).

HA

My honest opinion is the Bruery decided to push the envelope too hard this year and it bit them on more than a few beers. I will say that this mentality lead to some really tasty beers over the years (including 2014). Befuddlement was one of my favorite beers this year, Port Black Tuesday was incredible, Mole Smoking Wood was surprisingly great and the bulk of their core barrel aged beers were more on point this year then in the past.

A lot of other breweries don't care what their consumers think while the Bruery has sent out several surveys, refunded or reduced the price for beers below their standards

I get it, they ****** up and they had a bad period. I'm not denying that, but can we agree they at least made the best effort to address it with credits for the full amount plus tax for the 5 beers that were released last year. I didn't buy that much of them so I was able to spend my credit on beers I actually wanted.

This year there were mistakes too and of which include two beers that I was really looking forward to coming out. I too wanted **** and Mash & Coconut, but with that said I understand sometimes **** doesn't scale or things don't taste as good as you've imagined. It's just like you're beating a dead horse.

I admit I'm one of the biggest Bruery apologists, but being here and seeing all the work that's going on. The relocation of the storage/warehouse facility, the new bottling line going in, etc. and it all takes time. It seems like everyone expected it to be fixed overnight, and everyone has the answer. I guess the reason why Stu's comments rustle my jimmies is because I remember him saying how much he was looking forward to this year. All in all with Filmishmish, Melange #1 & #3, BT, CR, and GM returning and the addition of Mocha Wednesday, Befuddlement, Winification II Blue BBLs, ToD w'/ Cherry and Vanilla, Rum BT, Portuguise Brandy Sucre, Smokey and the Bois, and Rue d'Floyd. Sure there are a handful of misses but 16 great beers (IMO) is more than what I am getting from any other brewery.

I think this makes my thinking more understandable. The crossed out beers are things I:

1) Have no interest in;
2) Tried and thought were gross;
3) Have a zillion of from previous years and don't need to buy; or
4) Didn't want to pay $150 to figure out which the good variants were.

Plus no one realized that this batch of Filmishmish wasn't wildly disappointing until it was too late to order any. So it's just revealed itself to be an incredibly poor value proposition for me. I'm sure CommanderofAwesome will bring all the good stuff to the Bay Area tastings anyway.

Plus they royally pissed me off by saying nothing about **** until the very end and buried it in a ******** e-mail no one actually reads. The one thing they had previously done well no matter was customer service, but god damn if I were in the room when that decision was made I would've quit. I would never, ever let my company treat customers like that. Total bitch move and everyone involved with making that decision should be ashamed.

Totally worth $700, plus the cost of beer.

Or, not.

Anyone on here involved in this LA-area Bruery tasting that got posted in some of the Facebook groups? Apparently every bottle that's ever been released by the Bruery will be represented:

So there's at least 40 people going along with a bunch of maybes and invites, plus unaccounted WAGs. dontdrinkbeer please tell me you will be in attendance to describe the atomized midwest pours of BA B1 Levud's and BA PiaPT.

I must say that I did enjoy the Reserve Society this year despite it being difficult, and very expensive to get all my bottles shipped to Denver from LA. I thought everything I bought was very good. My goal was to spend enough to make Horders, but I guess $1200 wasn't enough. That being said, I received the invitation from Casey at the same time I would have needed to renew RS. That made the decision easy for me, but I still will miss buying new Bruery allotments every month.

This I agree with. Everyone has a breaking point, and when explained that way I can no longer argue with you.

The other stuff I would say being local i was able to try almost every beer before deciding to buy of not. I purchased based on personal preference after tasting 95% of the time in 2014 so I'm happy with almost every purchase. Once they've lost your trust this all becomes irrelevant.
