6 Geese-A-Laying is the 6th beer in our "12 Days of Christmas" series and is a return to the more classic dark and toasty winter ale, following the appropriately blonde 5 Golden Rings. Brewed with cape gooseberries, this malty ale displays notes of plums, dark cherry and bright, citrus-like flavors from the namesake berries. The bourbon barrel aged variation showcases oaky vanillin and caramel-like sweetness from a year aged in previously-used barrels.

Mélange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff.

In brewing, BBL is the notation for "barrel," a unit of measurement equal to 31 gallons. This is not to be confused with an oak barrel, which typically holds nearly two BBLs of beer. Still with us? Great.
A special blend of our bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with our bourbon barrel aged sour stout, plus an addition of juicy blueberries, Blue BBLs finishes with incredibly vinous tones. The acidity from the sour stout matches perfectly with the sweet malt character of the imperial stout and the fruity tannins from the berries round everything together. Notes of red wine, blueberry skins, toffee and roasted oak. A fine edition to the line up of Hoarders Society exclusive ales.

So, do you think we're just never going to get ****? It's funny that one of the beers I was legitimately excited about this year is the amazing disappearing allocation. One more reason to be happy I got out, I guess.

My guess is infected bottles but the kegs are ok, like a few of their releases last year...so they'll just do more **** growler fills.

I'm guessing that the bottles of non-adjunct filled product is just so thin and mediocre that they can't even salvage it. No wonder they've been pushing hard to throw flavors in there and sell it through draft with all the various treatments they done to it.

Cherry and Vanilla just tasted so boring. I can't even imagine how it would taste without those flavorings in it.

Before they took the dates off of the projected release page, **** was showing as a December release. It had been moved around before then (for unknown reasons, but infection wouldn't be a stretch) but it could still show up next month. The fact that draft variants showed up way before the release is really bizarre. If they have another infection with this, it would almost seem like the death knell of barrel aging any clean beers other than Anniversary and BT. I'm still hoping it will show up in December - and be good - but the lack of communication is frustrating.

I'm a fan of sour stouts and I imagine I'd like all of them (well, I know I like M3) but doesn't releasing 3 in one month seem like poor planning? Especially when that's all you're putting out. I'm not counting BBA 6 Geese-a-Laying, because I'm sure that will be ******* gross.

I believe it's currently in bottles right now but hasn't released. Should release before years end. I don't have a ton of TRB to trade but I have a bit to trade. I'll BM you in a bit.

Yeah you're right on M3, I was misremembering it (I guess that tends to happen when you are trying to recall beers from massive all-day bottle shares). I don't know why but I feel like it had at least some degree of tartness. Maybe that's just my mind playing tricks on me, especially drinking it right next to BT and CR.

I haven't liked any of the Christmas series beers in any form (regular or BA). But who knows, weird stuff goes on in barrels sometimes.
