That being said, with the shear amount of HS and RS members in southern California it may be beyond their capacity to host potentially twice that amount of people in a party exclusively held on a single day (Tuesday).

It sucks that they can't allow more than a single ticket per member, but I'm sure they'll be at capacity with a small number of members they'll be able to host. I'm also assuming that they'll sell out of tickets before all members that want to attend can purchase tickets.
My thoughts exactly, but I've been too apathetic to post them. Thanks!

From their instagram feed:

"Hoarders, this one's for you. Here's our packaging team member Andrew K. in action moving a very limited beer off the bottling Meheen and into a case so it can patiently wait to go home with a 2014 Hoarders Society member in the near future. Wineification II is a dreamy elixir of Black Tuesday co-fermented with Petite Sirah grapes and aged in French oak barrels for Hoarders only. "

Just in time as Renewals are going out end of Sept. If you check the store you'll find, "2015 Society Membership renewals will begin on September 22nd. Please keep an eye on your email inboxes and this website for details on what the 2015 membership will include."

Hoping past trend of $1,200 for the year holds true for HS this yr as I want to make the leap. Need moar BT/CR/GM

So, "co-fermented" is an interesting term. Does that mean this is not technically beer? I've heard some other brewers dance around the exact details of their process when using grapes in a way that made me think they might be skirting the boundaries of what they are allowed to do with a brewery license.

Jester King "co-ferments" pretty much all of their fruited sours. It means they throw the fruit in early. I dunno if that's what The Bruery is doing but I doubt it goes against the "definition" of beer. The wild ale thread had a debate about what to call sour beers, and a lot of people settled on "mixed fermentation". I like that definition but I don't really care what it's called. In any case, I think what a lot of craft breweries are doing is simply going over the ABCs' heads. Their regulations simply aren't able to keep up with the pace of innovation.

Co-fermented just means that the fruit goes in at the same time they pitch the yeast into the wort. It allows the fruit sugars to be fermented during the initial phase. The reason could be a couple things: they want the fruit to ferment at the same time as the wort for added complexity, or that it will speed the brewing process. Or both.

They did it with the grapes in the first batch of Wineification.

i hate myself a little for even asking, but when does open sign ups start for RS, if it has been announced?

New signups for RS are usually in December.
I signed up in oct last yr, but I was previously in ps society.

Also, ppl have already gotten HS invites it seems. I've spent over $1,600 so far and haven't gotten mine yet. Be interesting to see if I get one. I'd probably quit the society if I didn't get one TBH, too much #butthurt

Really? Are they kicking some Hoarders members out next year for not spending enough money this year? I have yet to receive an invite, and am currently a Hoarder.

I suspect that they're expecting a certain amount of folks not to re-sign.

Me either, although at this point I think I'm going to switch all my "diabeetus water" spending over to Schramm's anyway. This year's HS has blown chunks.

That makes sense though. There are 50 people who spent a **** ton and visited the tasting room 20 times and then maybe 50 in hoarders that (for good reason) didn't spend or visit much in 2014.

I wouldn't be surprised.

But Eric, I need you to stay HS so I can mooch off your allocations next year. Chris and I don't plan on renewing and just buying 1 bottle of everything new that comes out (as long as limits are high) I don't need any more CR, BT or Grey Monday in my life. I have 6 bottles of each in the cellar. too much.

Wanna get rid of a few BT/CR/GM esp '13, let me know.

...I definitely see the reasons against it but if you're not buying hoarders levels of beers, then you shouldn't be a hoarder. and yes I agree that Bruery was **** this year and therefore people weren't buying as many beers.

I'd actually be impressed if they kicked 'underperforming' members out of hoarders. I'd love to write that email.

We are sorry, but because you didn't buy enough 15%+ beers -- with no trade value to speak of -- to drink multiple of them a week, we regrettably must terminate your HS membership.

I agree that this year's Hoarders beers haven't been as good as last years (SitR w/ Peaches, Griffon, and Confession in particular for me), but this year's HS beers have been their best new beers by a considerable margin.

Yeah but the question is "do I want to spend all this money on Bruery?" If they're making ~8 beers a year that I actually want to drink, then the answer is "no".

Those are some big goals

I will be allowing someone to "jump onto" my HS account next year with me.

If you're interested in joining hoarders and didn't don't get an invite PM me and I will discuss the deets.

Edit: added strikethrough to "didn't"

I got my invite to Hoarders 2015, so I doubt they're kicking anyone out. They go on sale 9/22, I wonder how long it's open for. Unless Oct kicks ass I'm out.

By email? I haven't gotten anything.

Assuming stupac2 wasn't a Hoarder previously, and The Bruery loves sending out those fancy invitations to get you to spend lots of $$$ with them.

Hoping to split a membership about x4 ways this year, we can share the limited stuff at tastings, I can get a few bottles of things that interest me, and spend a hell of a lot less $$$.
