I was brewing some american brown ale and i began to try to use filtered water. I realized when i was adding cold water to my primary fermenter (i do a partial boil) that the black things from my Brita filter got in. What do type of effect will take place?? Also, should i be using boiled water instead of just straight from the tap for filter pitcher when adding water to my wort??

Let me know! Thanks guys

Those black things are probably activated-charcoal granules. If so, you don't have to worry. Boiling your water is always a good idea. If you are doing extract and using filtered water, some yeast nutrient is a wise addition.

Yeah, I'd say your bigger concern would be that the filter may have taken away nutrients necessary for the yeasties.
