Hi folks, i've had my 1st homebrew going for 3 days now and disaster has struck. I'm in scotland and the weather has been poor even for here with temperatures ~15 to 18 Deg. The main problem is my central heating has just went on the blink:(, and it's not going to be a quick fix.
Would there be any issue with using a new aquarium immersion heater (sterilised), to heat my brew and keep it at ~22 Deg?

Personally I would not place the heater directly into the wort, that's just me. If the heater is powerful enough I would place the carboy/bucket in another vessel of water and place the heater in that, heat that water and then the ferementor will heat up. Another idea would be a brew belt that wraps around the primary and can be used with a temperature regulator/thermostat to raise and hold the temperature.
