It's been a while since i've been active here, but I thought I'd share with you all where my garage to brewery/pub conversion is going.

Traveling for work, so no updates for the rest of the week. But this weekend should have a lot of progress and a new batch.

Will be kegging my rye porter and beginning to carb up my India brown ale.

Well, we've had an all time high number of site visits today, though nothing interested was posted. More people visited than I have friends. And I don't know anyone in Australia or Vietnam, so it seems I should post something now since, apparently, people are watching.

As you can see from yesterday's post, we've moved from a table on either side of the room to having both on one side. The garage door is mounted off center. Since I need this to be a functional garage as well as brewpub, I need to be sure the tables fold up and down without obstruction from the door tracks.

So, both on one side.

While driving for six hours today, I realized that I might have the framework in place for a brew system build if I can get my hands on a grinder to cut through an existing metal shelving unit. (Mic?)

We mounted one table a bit too high - one of those embarrassing things that I'd rather not think about. We'll correct that this weekend. How you fail when you measure 5x and cut/drill/screw 1x and still get it wrong, I'll never know. But...

Also this week I need to clean, prep, sanitize, and test the keggerator. It's been sitting for too long, and needs some love. The challenge will be finding some key pieces that are currently in an attic that is screwed shut due to faulty springs and hinges.

Go-go-gadget creativity.

Hopped blonde ale this weekend, anyone?

A bit of an update on progress:

http://conversionbrewing.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/table-challenges/

If you remember, I attached the table legs to the table tops by a hinge, allowing them to fold into each other when stowed. Like this: The hinge size, though, was very limited and the legs are not nearly secure enough to keep my confidence. After considering a number of options, I decided to construct […]

Tremendous progress over the last few days...

http://conversionbrewing.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/cabinets-counter-tops-and-tables-lots-of-images/

Really productive couple days. And the great thing is, it’s not to the neglect of other things that needed to be done around the house (leaves blown, maintenance done, dishes done, kids played with). Yesterday I showed you how I built braces around the legs of the tables. I doubled the size of them today […]

^ It's been a ton of fun. And it can be done remarkably inexpensively, if you get creative. Don't hesitate!

in other news, picked up a blickmann floor burner. looking forward to testing that beast out for my first brew. next weekend, hopefully.

And a few more.

Brooke and I dropped the table down an inch to resolve that mistake. Then, Brooke got to work on the logo. <a I added some wooden wedges to the underside of the table against the wall to give some additional support. Results were mixed. I was jerry rigging some book shelf brackets by cutting them […]

some updates since last time.

It turns out that the environment in the brewery is ideal for lagers during the winter months. The Federal Head and Eve have been struggling with temps in the room as I’ve been continuing to dial in temps for the room, enhance insulation, and calibrate the heaters. But they’re holding at the high end of […]

Between birthday activities for my four year old, a few things happened today. Swung by Costco and picked up a flat screen smart TV to run off our wireless signal and the DirecTV app from my iPad. Spent a bit more than I intended to. But since the primary viewing will be sports, I wanted […]

Things are in order. Tomorrow will be a full day. The two boys will join the fun. First, I need to install a two line distributer that will run from the second output on my CO2 regulator. From that two line gas distributer will run two gas lines to a couple pin lock kegs that […]

While I wait for another 6.5 gallon big mouth bubbler to arrive, I developed a solid plan to open a primary fermenter to accommodate Theses – the Bavarian Dunkel I have in the works. That plan is to mount a two line gas distributor, run it from the second half of my regulator, and carb […]

don't brew distracted, gents

The goal for the day was to have the father of the bride from Saturday’s wedding and my father-in-law join the brewing fray while sharing a couple beers and intermittently watching the Pats kick the Jets tail. Great goals. Just too many of them. See, since my CO2 tank ran out, I couldn’t rack a […]
