One of my favorite styles in an IRA. I'm wondering how easy it would be to make one of my own by getting a Red Ale LME kit and add some hops to it? Would that just taste like a nasty, hoppy red ale or would it actually taste like an IRA?

I've only brewed one batch so far and it was a LME so all-grain is not an option at this point.

I'd just look at the recipes posted on this site for a clone of what you like and convert the recipe to Extract. Why spend the money on a kit when you can just buy the ingredients you need and do it from scratch.

If you still want to use a kit I'd probably figure out what hops you like (toss the ones that came with the kit) and add some additional DME to boost your alcohol and maltiness.
