I recently decided to add my extracts at the end of the boil thinking I was clever. However, I didn't count on the boil stopping for such a long period of time. This kinda of screwed up my 20 minute hops plan, and as it started to heat up again, it boiled up and all over the stove. At this point I decided to stop, so I could clean up the mess before anything burnt.

With all that fun business out of the way. How will this affect my hops flavour/bitterness.

I added roughly 2 ounces of wakatu hops 8.6% AA at the 20 min mark.
added extract at 15 minutes.
boil over at 0

does this equal to only 5 minutes of hops?

and yes for the future I should add the extract at burn out:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you are doing full extract batches you should add 1\3rd of the extract when the water starts boiling. Then when it gets back to boiling, start your timer and add your hops per your schedule. Then at the 5-10 minute mark. It will slow the boil down but don't worry about it. Let it get back to boiling, then add any 0 minute additions and chill.

Hops utilization is based on the amount of sugar in the wort and the amount of time the hops are at boiling temp.
