At which point people drove like bigger ****tards than usual, still paid 10% income tax, and bought a townhouse with no yard for $600,000 in a no interest jumbo loan.

There... fixed that for you.

Yep, I'll take a couple of months of snow over that.

Thunder snow here now . . .
Engine is out at a pole fire. One of the VERY few times I've been glad I'm assigned to a med rig . . . ok not really would still rather be on the engine . . .

They also transferred one of our engines out of their house (Brady St) and to a near by one (Broadway) because they couldnt keep up with the drifts on the streets surrounding it.

Thunder snow here now . . .

The weather man on the local S. Bend station said we had that earlier. I missed it, it is really amazing. I was fortunate enough to experience it in Central Ohio a couple of years ago.

It's here as well. I glanced out the window and saw a huge flash and immediately thought, "Well, there go the power lines." but was greeted by a hearty clap of thunder instead of the expected loss of power.

Had thundersnow here earlier too.

Here is pic from side garage door at 11 pm.

just spent the last 30 minutes getting the med rig and engine both back into the fire house. The med rig got stuck when we returned and then just as we got it dug out and back inside the engine came back and did the same thing . . .

ZERO viability atm. The transport that should have taken us 2 minutes took 20. The run after that took us 30 minutes to go 50 blocks.

Rained hard here this morning and then dried up and got very cold very quickly. 50F to 25F in like half an hour. Nearly slid off the road where the water running across it froze into a nice skating rink. Shame it didn't snow more than a couple of flakes here. This place shuts down on a half inch or more.

just got back from being stuck again for about an hour. Had to have the repair shop drag us away from another vehicle this time, we had about 1/2 inch left to slide to the side b4 we made contact and to the side was the only direction we were heading.

Time for some dry cloths and maybe a hot shower to try and knock some of the chill off.
5 hour left for the shift then I can TRY to maybe see if I can get home.

BTW 18 degrees winds out of the North East at 18 gusts to 51, still snowing. No clue how much we have so far but seeing plenty of 5-6 drifts across the streets in the city.

Pumbaa, sorry you had a rough night. Get home and get some rest. As for me...I got to sleep all night, but I'm working 24 OT today. So by the time I go home I'll have been here for 72 hours.

Haven't had a real good storm in quite a while. Had some nice drifts this morning, but not as much snow is I'd hoped/expected. We were near the north end of the storm track.

Got home last night and popped a Hopslam and waited for the storm. Didn't feel well in a while and wife wanted to watch Grey's Anatomy all night, so I went to bed just before the snow hit.

I think the wind was the worst part. Lots of snow, but the drifting is what makes the plowing difficult. Luckily I live a few small blocks from work. But even the purchasing lady who lives 20 miles away drove in with her Ford Escape 2x4. She said she plowed the whole way though...

Got up at 5 this morning and cleared the driveway. Was in my kitchen making my lunch when the boss called and said if the roads were bad by me I shouldn't worry about coming in. I told him I would at least head out and see. Got about a mile down the road to where the snowplow turned around, saw the drifts, and said Eff This. So now I have a day off. But I'll prolly have to work Saturday now to catch up.

All rain here. Ice everywhere! If we didn't already have so much snow piled everywhere, I would prefer more snow, but I'll take the rain because of everything else. We're supposed to hit 40 today so hopefully if it keeps raining it will melt a lot of the snow we have.

Ohh that smarts.......:D, i imagine there are quite a few in that situation here, but seriously, I have a 3000 + sq ft house, on 1 acre, inland that I paid $300K for when new and my income easily affords. Plenty of yard to brew in. And I drive a 96 Dodge Ram Cummins with 350K miles on it, and dont drive like a tard.

Ohh, and I dont have to shovel snow. If I have irristable urge to freeze my nipples off, about 3 months out of the year, I can drive an hour and quench my urge.:D

You know what? I forget you were in Jacksonville AR. We were there on Saturday and it was in the 70s. We got gas, and played with the dog behind the gas station. I should have called you and begged you for a beer!

It's COLD here in Rockport, TX. We don't have a furnace or anything. We turned on a couple of space heaters and it's colder in this house here than at home in the UP! But by Saturday, it's supposed to be back to normal.

just got my power back on after 13 hours without. currently 45F inside the house. on top of all that, i spent over an hour digging my car out of the snow, and another hour trying to make it the 1/4 mile out of my neighborhood to get to a main road. I got stuck about 6 times before i even saw a plow. He told me not to bother as the main roads were shut down anyway.

and here i was looking forward to warming up at work! When i called in, got nothing but voicemail. i guess i can't get in trouble if my bosses can't get there either.

See! It's Yoopers fault!

Report back in September when you are boarding your windows.

I'm a real Floridian. I stock up on canned goods early in the season and then clear a path to the shutters which don't go up until impact is estimated at 36-48hours. Haven't had to shutter up since Wilma in 2005. When was your last blizzard hysteria?
