I need a new burner. This might be a possibility once the leg extensions are available.

You may want to call to make sure, but upon looking at the Blichmann web site it looks like it uses the same extensions as the Top Tier burners as they tell you to keep the short legs in case you ever want to mount it on a Top Tier stand.

The engineering aspects of it look identical to the top tier burner chassis with the new burner assembly and and added heat shield for the front of the burner.

Just got mine and used it on my last brew day. Significantly more efficient and quieter than my old turkey burner from Walmart. All in all probably saved me 45 minutes on my brew day.

I'll be interested in hearing a comparison between the hellfire and the original Blichmann burner

Bump for this -- has anyone switched from the Blichmann Top Tier (rated at 72k BTU) burner to the Hellfire (140k BTU)?

I'm trying to decide if I should pick up a used Blichman Top Tier for use with my 20 gallon brewpot (for 11-15 gallon batches), or if I'd be significantly better off going with the new model. Either way I'll be converting the burner to work with natural gas.

The Floor Burner on NG is a popular solution for automated rigs, but I've yet to read of anyone running the Hellfire on NG. Might just be a matter of someone going first and finding an orifice that works.

That said, the Floor Burner performance on 11" WC NG is less than impressive, imo, compared to its performance on propane with the oem regulator, at least without air injection.

Watching the Hellfire video I can only imagine the difficulty in doing much better than the Floor Burner on NG without a blower...

Cheers!

I've used mine three times now, significantly quieter and more efficient. I've done several 10 gallon batches with it as well. I will say the leg extensions are nice for a tiered setup. However, you can't use the heat shield or the portion that helps you center the kettle. If/when I get pumps I will go back to the floor setup.

Now that is what I am talking about. The next 2 upgrades I am considering are a better burner and a better Immersion Cooler. Both should save me some time on brew day.

Just to confirm, you're saying that on the Hellfire when you swap in the leg extensions you can no longer use the adjustable L brackets that hug the edges of the kettle? From looking at pics online, it appears that the original "Top Tier" design allowed for use of both the leg extensions and the L brackets, and Williams Brewing has them in the pics for the Hellfire leg extensions as well:

EDIT: Is it possible you've got a set of the old model leg extensions (which evidently aren't compatible with the Hellfire)?

More efficient and quieter than the original Blichmann floor burner?

Blichmann responded in another thread I started with more detail on upgrades from the Top Tier to the Hellfire. For those considering natural gas conversion, Blichmann reports observing a ~20% performance drop vs. propane (which seems to line up well with what's been reported for other burner configurations).
