A colleague at work, who apparently brews a lot of beer, suggested that I try replacing the water required in my next beer kit with sap from a birch tree. He claims to have done so on a Coopers IPA kit a while ago and said it was the best beer he ever built! He said he would tap about 5 gallons then strain out any foreign items and use the sap in place of the water (all other things remain unchanged).
I'm pretty new to beer making but have had some great success with Coopers kits..... I Have not learned enough yet to venture out and try a non-kit beer, but am willing to try new things.
Has anyone ever tried this? Success? Failure? Any helpful hints/advice?
