I drank 4 of my Amber Ales last night (after 2 weeks bottle conditioned), and I really REALLY like them a lot. :drunk: ...Even over some microbrewed beers I had in the past...

Now what do I do when I go to a bar and they only have Miller Lite and Bud???? I am not going to want to drink piss when I can brew beer that tastes 100000x better. This is a major dilemma! How does everyone cope when they are out at a local bar???

It's the homebrew curse. We always do local festivals and events, I used to get trashed, now we just go for an hour cus the brew sucks at these events. I am forever sober in public now. Sucks! Although, now I try to get trashed before leaving the house and make swmbo drive, it works.

I guess I'm just lucky when it comes to my local bar. A two minute walk down to the end of my street and I'm there. I agree it's hard to drink the Bud/Miller Lites after having your own homebrew. Luckily, the bar at the end of my street has a wonderful selection of draft beers including my favorite, Great Lakes Brewing Co. They also have a good selection of bottles including some of the offerings from DFH. I agree with you guys though, I will usually pre-game slighly before going to the bars. Nothing better than an Apfelwein buzz before going out drinking.

Pretty lucky that most places near me have a good selection on tap/bottled. But there are times where I won't drink much because they just have BMC.

Don't go to bars that only sell BMC. Take your business to places that have made the effort to offer good beer.

definetly buddy, even i face the same problem, local bars are yuck!!!! its better to have beer brewed, make a good choice of bars, try to find places which have your tastes available.

I have been known to sneak a few homebrews with me to events, parties etc...My wifes purse can usually hold a couple as well as the cooler in my trunk. I just pour it into whatever type glass they have there. Its a pain and she teases me about it.

i just stay away from those places. im not big into the bar scene anyways. down here in ga there are some bad one all country music. man that crap makes me suicidal.

Life is too short to drink bad beer! I only frequent bars that have some selection of good beer. :mug:

The Pittsburgh area has some good bars with selection and also some brew pubs that do a nice job!

Yeah I hear you all! I've been staying away from bars as of recently. The thing that really sucks are the bars that actually have decent beer on tap or in bottles, are like 5-7$ a bottle, so I end up dropping way to much money than I should.

It looks like pre-gaming before going to the bar and sneaking in some of my own beer might be the best method! Haha, that is just so sleazy, I love it.

Tell the crappy bars with crappy beer to get some real beer cause you're not going to drink that piss water they sell.

A guy at work owns a bar downtown and I have picked on them a small bit. Since St. Patricks day they started stocking Guinness. They also usually have a Sam Adams and a seasonal, so it's not a total loss.

He once told me he likes his beer to taste as much like water as possible. Uh... ok, what's the point?

Wow, you should just tell him to give you the keys to the bar because he does not deserve to be a bar owner with that mentality. That hurts.
