Evening all.
First BIAB today, Citra Smash using my new Blichmann 10 gal kettle
Admittedly a bit lax with numbers etc, more worried about getting used to new equipment and method, but went pretty well I think
Wasn't helped by a wet and windy day here in Dublin, flame went out a few times.

Happy enough over all, think I got about 60% efficiency and just over 21 litres into bucket.
Pretty hazy but I've never been hugely worried about that.
Absolutely pleased with the method though, pretty much done after 4 hours

Have pics but uploader not playing ball:(

Pics, I hope

Nice, man! BIAB is the way to go. New equipment is always a little learning curve then it becomes second nature.

Congrats on your first BIAB! A Citra smash sounds like a great way to test out new equipment. Depending on the grain you used, it will probably clear up in the fermentor.

Alas she didn't work out in the end.
Fermented well enough and temp was kept pretty steady.
Tasted a bit off before kegging but thought it was just a yeasty flavour so kegged away and carbed for a few days
Taste test last night and barely drinkable. I think it's acetyldehyde due to appley smell but lmost impossible to drink.
Will give to a more experienced brewer I know to try and identify what happened

I've made some bad beers in my time but first time I've had an undrinkable one.
Will dust myself off and go again

If you let it sit for a month (or longer) in room temperature, it might correct itself, as it is a byproduct of the yeast.

I'll probably just dump it to free the keg up and to go again.
In for about €20 on it so not the end of the world and hopefully an experience I can learn from
Think my fermentation setup is what needs some tweaking so will look at that and improve

Still, actual BIAB method suits me very nicely so will be sticking with it for good I think

Wow, did you dump it already? If I'm reading your timeline right your first taste test was only 2 1/2 wk from brew day. Unless it was an overwhelming infection or something I don't think I'd ever bail on beer that early, especially if you suspect it's acetaldehyde which we know is often due to green beer and will age out. Your call though, obviously.

Didn't bin it yet, but checked again and it is very off.
Not sure if it is acetyldehyde, never had one go like this before
I'll get somebody in the know to have try and see what they say it might be
