Good point Igbal624, but why pay shipping? Up in Bellingham you should be able to find them for around $30, I'm not sure where but, my brother lives in Seattle and gets it for much less than $50.

Good point. I'm sure it's possible. I just haven't really had the need yet as I'm doing my first AG batch this weekend.

Depending on how it goes will determine how much grain I need. :)

If I could get to around 30/bag, and get hops at $1 an ounce, I'd be saving about $10/ brew.

We shall see how it goes.

Nootay, if you wouldn't mind the 2 hour drive to Woodbridge, I would have no problem getting your grain when I order from the VA/DC/Md group buys. I aslo say a group buy from the C'ville area, that may be a bit closer.

I'm in Alexandria and am starting to look for a good deal on bulk grain. I just ordered from MidwestSupplies online last night, approx. $50/50#, but I was ordering a bunch of other stuff too so shipping wasn't really a factor.

Can you post more details about the VA/DC/MD group buys? I'm curious about pricing, location, and frequency of purchases. I would be totally willing to do a little driving to get a deal, and it would be cool to meet some other local brewers in the process.

Welcome LowNotes. Just find the bulk buy thread. Our fearless leader is a very honest and kewl guy in Tacoma Park. Not too bad a drive. I believe he just started a new purchase list. He does about 6-8 a year it seems. The prices are great and there is a catalog you can order from. All he asks is "samples" of your manifestations :)

Let me know if you need any other info (PM).
