Anyone know the name for midnight wheat on beersmith I can't find it or the style black IPA

It's not in BS. You can add it yourself though. These are the specifics I've used on my end:

Code:
Name: Midnight Wheat
Type: Grain
Origin: US
Supplier: Briess

Yield: 71.00 %
Potential: 1.033
Color: 550.0 SRM
Max in Batch: 10.0 %
Moisture: 6.50 %
Protein: 11.7 %
Coarse Fine Difference: 1.50 %
Diastatic Power: 0.0 %

Recommend Mash: FALSE
Inventory: 0.0 oz
Notes: Midnight Wheat Malt will contribute the same color characteristics as
Black Malt but without the bitter, astringent, dry flavors or aftertaste. 1-2%
for color adjustment, 2-5% for color and subtle flavor, 5-10% for color and
smooth roasted flavor.

As stpug said you'll have to add it as it's not present even with the Briess add-ons. Go to Ingredients> Grain > Add Grain and plug in the numbers above. The default styles are the BJCP recognized styles, in a BJCP competition black IPA would be in the specialty category. There may be an add on for other styles, not sure. Otherwise again you'd have to input it yourself.

Like others have said, "Black IPA" is not a recognized BJCP style. For my purposes I set the style to American IPA in beersmith which gets me the basic parameters. The only factor that will be way off is your SRM. When submitting to a competition I put it in the specialty category.

I did the same thing independently this morning! The reason why I bought Midnight Wheat was because I want to brew a pumpkin ale this weekend and saw "The fear" by Dogfish Head that listed it as its ingredient. Probably won't end up using it this weekend though but also save it for a black IPA.
