I was hoping someone could help wash the ******* off of me.

I put water into my 10 gal igloo watercooler/mashtun and drained until it wasnt coming out of the spout. I pour what was left and measured it to get my "dead space.. which is 0.62 gal. (not sure if i did it correctly?)

I am very new to beersmith, and i plugged in Schlenkerla's Quaffable Irish Red (all grain) with the equipment that i have. The results projected were an ABV of 0.6% and 43 calories a pint!

I know this cant be right. Where am i going wrong? Is it the dead space? Or the fact that one of my numbers is off somewhere?
Please help me scrub the stoopid off.

I just noticed it is also saying to sparge with more than 6 gal. i figured id try to post a pic of the sheet.

The Actual ABV and Calories are calculated based on the measured OG/FG you enter, not the estimated ones. You entered (or the program defaulted to) 1.010 OG and 1.005 FG.

Also looks like your equipment settings are wrong. You don't adjust temp for equipment, and your mash tun weight is 0 lbs.

as far as the mash tun weight... i just put in the weight of the dry cooler? Also, i have no idea about the adjustment of temp.. Is that something im supposed to put in/figure out. I dont know why it says false.

Im guessing when i put that OG in there that will help a ton haha!! Thanks man.

Beersmith has choices for equipment- the cooler should be in there as a choice to pick for equipment. Look in the "equipment" area right under the beer style, and choose your equipment.

Check the little box that says "adjust for equipment" after you do that. Then you should be all set!
