So I cracked open a brew the other day and when I went to poor it into a glass it came out as a beer slushee. Apparently my garage refer is a little on the cold side. My question is, does partially freezing beer have any long term affect on the beer?

Hi,
I believe the highest risk is in cracking the bottles open from the freezing. You would have to get it pretty cold to completely freeze it due to the alcohol content. Obviously if its not fully carbonated you would also kill off the yeast and potentially get low carbonation.

I would recommend putting your thermometer in the fridge for a few hours and adjusting it down. If you do crack a bottle it will be a real mess.

Cheers,
Brad

I adjusted the temp immediately after I realized my beers were freezing. I opened one tonight and it tasted great, but I noticed quite a bit more sediment at the bottom of the bottles. Before there was the average amount and it was rather firmly stuck to the bottom. Now theres like 1/2 inch of very loose sediment floating around at the bottom of the bottles. What would cause this?

Cold break compounds that come out of solution at very low temperatures. Not a problem & if you raise the temperature a little, they'll re-dissolve mostly.
