I have a Black IPA that I bottled about a week ago it is about 8%abv and I just tried one. It has little to no carbonation. Think it is just to early or do i need to do something to try and get it to carbonate. Please help.

Too early. For a higher gravity beer it can take 4 weeks to fully carbonate. Also ensure you are bottle conditioning at room temp or at 70F or above. This will help facilitate the carbonation process. Patience, it will get there. :mug:

It is very early. Not sure of your storage temp or bottle size, but allow at least 3 weeks. I use 22 oz bottles, 4-5 weeks is the norm. Give it more time, and when ready to try one allow 3-4 days in the fridge. It will help get the CO2 out of the bottle headspace into the beer.

ya, i did an 8% beer. at 3 weeks it was carbed enough to drink but it hit its prime at like 5-8 weeks. to bad i had already drank 3/4 of the batch before that lol :D

Thanks for the info guys i am going to just wait and see hopefully everything works out. It is so good that i can drink it pretty much flat but going to hold off and see what happens.
