This is recipe #173 on list that was released last week.

I was looking to brew a version of this with some coffee added. I ran the numbers of fermentables from the PDF which I have listed below. The recipe gives an OG of 1068 for 5gal. I dont see how this malt bill gives you an OG of 1068. Can anyone tell me what, if anything, Im missing or is the recipe just off?

Pale Ale 4.68lb
Amber Ale .55lb
Flaked Oats .55lb
Chocolate Malt .82lb
Roasted Barley .27lb
Carafa 3 .41lb

This gives me an OG of 1035 not counting a lactose addition. Im not using the metric numbers and the recipe states the volume is 5gal with an abv of 6.5.

What am I missing?

I've had a look at a couple of these recipes and they don't seem to add up using beer engine. I think you need to take their recipes with a pinch of salt

It looks like if you double the malts you get the correct OG, don't know if that would apply for the whole recipe.

yeah, Im looking through them now and alot of the recipes dont seem to match the numbers provided.

Im not going to double the malts cause 3lbs of dark malts will taste like the ash tray in my dad's old Ford LTD. I think i'll just up the pale malt to hit the OG, maybe up the dark malts a little.
