Hi,

Was wondering, and didn't find anything on a search, about BCS-460 settings after a power failure. When power is restored, does it automatically revert to the previous settings? What about any active processes that are running? Is there a way, preferably an easy one, to make it resume activity after a power outage?

Thanks

TD

You'll have to activate any processes that were working prior to the power outage. There is an option to Run a process on startup.

For processes like kegerator and fermentation chamber temp control where you just set it to one temp and leave it there I would set those processes to start upon power up. If you are in the middle of a brew day I wouldn't want to to start back up on its own as the BCS will not know what step in the process to start back up on. Plus you May want to run it in manual mode to get back to where you left off before you jump back into your process. For example bringing the mash tun back up to temp before restarting the timer.

Definitely wouldn't want to use the Run @ Startup option unless it was for fermentation purposes.

Thanks. Its for fermentation control. Most times I'd be able to correct within a few hours, unless on vacation. I guess that the ability to start a process on startup (can you start several?) would be handy. Maybe finding a way to send myself a email when the power goes out (UPS for instance) would alert me to a possible danger of a hot fermentation situation and I could use a iphone or PC to log into the BCS remotely.

I found the logon info for using an authenticated connection and see that the port is 8080. I wonder if there is a way to alter the port number used in case of a conflict.

THanks for the help

Yes, you can select any or all 8 processes run @ startup .

screen shot of what it looks like on the firmware v.3.x http://wiki.embeddedcc.com/images/9/91/Settings.png (make sure to click on the image after it appears to zoom in on it)

in V.4.0 (trying the beta out right now) you can select Run @ Startup as an option in the Processes Editor.

This will run on 6-10 VDC at about 500mA. buy a 6volt Werker battery to run in parallel with the wall wort.

It will not run your elements, chiller, pumps, heaters, etc. but it will keep the program running in the case of a brownout. Or if the power goes out for a few hours and you are running a fermentor cycle.
