I just recently got a Bayou Classic 3066a burner with a 7.5 gallon aluminum pot and decided I would boil some water (6 gallons) to test it out and get some oxidation on the pot before I do a brew. It seems obvious that more gas=faster heating but I'm wondering what is "ideal." I ended up turning it on full blast and got a boil in about 20 minutes in 40F weather.
Do you open the regulator up all the way when bringing it to a boil?
I know it would work either way, but I imagine there is a trade off between efficiency and speed and I'm wondering what other people do. Either way, just trying to find out if I'm over thinking here/get some more informed opinions.
