If they get some rotation in those Mikkeller beers, it could at least be interesting. But my guess is that the same six or so beers will dominate the list at all times.

Soooo....what IPAs (preferably canned) are good here? Anything resembling the New England fruit juice everyone loves to say is worse than their local stuff would be great. Came across a BevMo for the first time but was utterly confused by what I saw on the shelf.
Go to Fieldwork and buy Crowlers. The MT Trader Joe's beer is decent if still around, Almanac IPA can is better than i expected.
Otherwise Kern River stuff is around. And go to Cellarmaker and Faction.
Oh Ale Industries, don't miss out on them. Super Srs
Edit. Avoid Bev Mo.

Can't tell if serious... They made a couple OK sours like 3 years ago, then everything went buttery. Did they turn it around?

1) The best IPA's here aren't available in cans unfortunately.
2) Those NE IPA's are great.

No love for Alvarado St? Cold Pressed Hop Juice is ridiculously good. Peninsula Pilsner is excellent, as well.
We have a plethora of old Bell's, Pizza Port, Hess, and other cans at boutique shops, if one is into that sort of thing. Can I interest you in a an April canning date? Mmm? MMMM?

Actually, best IPAs in cans here are usually whatever the special quarterly release from Modern Times is -- at least when they're new.

Alvarado St has been impressive but you might struggle if you aren't plugged into social media and quick on your feet...
Modern Times and Pizza Port probably best bet for cans but check those dates. Pains me to suggest Southern California breweries but no one up here is really doing cans.
I haven't stepped to those Almanac cans yet. Ordered a Pils on draft about a year ago and it was wayyyyy too hoppy. Still, ill give it another shot once i'm back off the damn wagon.
Lagunitas 12th of never is so new its guaranteed fresh for the time being. I haven't even had it yet so I cant really say if its good or not, buy if you were ever gonna but it now might be the time.
I actually recently picked up some 2 week old Kook at Bev Mo (yes, dry shelf) in a pinch so it can be done.

Ended up booking an Airbnb in The Castro, on 15th St, for our trip in October. Struggled to find anything in Lower Haight that looked nice/wasn't booked yet but this should do. Thanks to all for your input. I'll be stalking this thread closely over the next two months and taking notes!

Then you might as well check out Healthy Spirits on the same street - tiny shop, pretty damn spendy, but occasionally has interesting bottles. Also sells a bunch of different bourbons, Scotches, and such, if that's your thing.

Grab reservations at Al's Place and Frances now. State Bird Provisions too.
Fat Angel is an under the radar spot if State Bird is all booked. Great beer too.
