Well, my past escapades start here: http://www.talkbeer.com/community/t...d-release-events-multi-state.2526/#post-95767

As for AA, I've pissed off one of the higher-ups (@largadeer). Hint: I was behind @largadear, @lardadeer, @largedeer, @largaderp, @mangodeer on BA in ~2009, but not @largerdeer. I've been told from a few people that he's still pissed, so I try not to go there and give him PTSD. In fact, I think I've pissed off just about everyone in the Bay Area that was on BA from 2008-2013, so I just quietly retired and stopped going to bars / tastings. :p

@largaderp may be my favorite account that I ever created. Little ****** loved haikus.
Well he doesn't work at Alpha Acid, and only showed up there an hour or so after opening, so you might've been safe!

Stopped by Novel on San Pabs yesterday. Gose was pretty tasty, IPA and wheatwine were meh. Saw they had some barrels and one guy working there (seemed like he was a brewer if not THE brewer) said they filled two of the bourbon barrels with their forthcoming imperial stout (8% abv before going into barrels) and the remaining will be used for some yet to be determined, probably non-fruited sour. So they aren't doing great things yet, but good to see them diversifying.

I thought largadear was the haiku prodigy? But I'm probably wrong, it was your deal and it was almost a decade ago.

Not really beer related, but the wife and I recently booked flights to San Fran in mid-October and are trying to decide which neighborhood to stay in. Is there anywhere in this thread that does some type of comprehensive rundown of the different areas? I clicked through a bunch of different pages, so I'm not being completely lazy at least :p
Staying in SF September 30th - October 2nd before heading down the coast to see family. Gonna have a couple of days to fill with eating and drinking. Open to any suggestions on lodging and dining/drinking.

Some favorites:

Beers at Cellarmaker, walk block down Rausch for beers at City Beer Store, or drink the whole board at Cellarmaker. Walk a block to Citizen Band for burger, poutine and fried chicken.

Beers at Toronado and catch the bus or ride share to nearby Bar Crudo for awesome raw bar and fish or Nopa for killer plates or the best burger in SF IMHO.

Beers at Barebottle in Bernal Heights, Old Bus Tavern and Bel. Grab pizza and pints at Pi Bar or giant plate of meatball and spaghetti at Emmys Spaghetti Shack.

Beers at Rosamunde and my favorite carne asada at La Taqueria in the Mission. Ask them to grill the burrito too.

Beers at Mikkeller Bare and short walk to Tu Lan. Classic spot that serves great Vietnamese. The walk is through one of the more colorful sections of the Tenderloin. Donut during the day and with people. I've done it at all hours, but yeah.

Beers at La Trappe in the Belgian bunker and Churchkey corner bar in North Beach and some good square slices of pizza at Golden Boy.

I usually do the above.

Let me buy you some beers at Cellarmaker at the least.

Don't forget Nopalito! Fancy Mexican that's worth the extra bucks and an always-solid tap list.

Ryan_G absolutely killed it with this list. La taqueria is seconded, highly. Probably the only time you'll wait in line for a burrito for 30 mins, but damn. If you really wanna be a fatass, finish it off with a slice of pie from mission pie, across the street. Dayum.

Also great to see Emmy's get some love

For Oakland I've been digging hitting up Bakesale Betty's then Temescal brewing at opening.

Alternatively, bagel sandwich to go at Authentic then eat/drink at Beer Rev.

Fieldwork is great but I have yet to figure out what food to bring there. Their pasties are pretty tasty but expensive.

There's a bunch of other spots in Oakland, but most of them will have the same sorts of stuff on tap. Lost & Found is a neat spot but soooooo hipstery and crowded. Easier to just go to Good Hop. IMO not really worth bothering with either Trappist but if you really really want some overpriced imports then go for it.

Additional east bay input: Temescal has a ton of good food options, but BB's is a classic. Cholita Linda is pretty amazing for Mexican as a great alternative.

Lost and Found is a ton of fun. Can be crowded but usually far less than Drake's. Agreed that Good Hop is probably the best option, but L&F is kid friendly as evidenced by the hoards of kids running around during daytime operations.

I think regular Trappist can be worthwhile for the ambiance. And occasionally they have Cantillon bottles.

Stupid me. Great spot. Best Mexican I've had outside of the actual country.

Don't forget about Clove and Hoof on Broadway in Oaktown. And Hog's Apothecary right around the corner on 40th. C&H have amazing sandos and burgers(featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives:rolleyes:. Not sure if this is good or bad). Not an amazing taplist, but always a Fieldwork IPA so that's my go to. Really close to Temescal Brewing.

I used to live right near Hog's and was excited when they were opening, and ended up going there like three times total. Just... meh.

Great list Ryan. I'll be sure to hit you up when we are in the city. The majority of the trip is visiting her family down in Paso Robles/Templeton so I should have some pull as far as beer geek **** goes for a couple days before we leave.

You'd better be detouring to Sante on the way down. It's not actually that unreasonable of a detour time-wise.
