Every time I've tried to go to RR in the past two years it's been an hour wait or longer. Maybe Tuesday evening is fine but there's a reason for that: no one south of Novato goes there on weekdays. Weekends are brutal and will be until this place is open, and given the way beer is growing maybe not even then.
It would actually be kind of nice if they won't fill growlers for diners, and only do growler fills in the new tasting room, like at Alpine. Makes it a hell of a lot more pleasant to eat at the restaurant.

Of course! Most transplants to the Bay are (we just like pleasant peninsulas, I guess). I'm from Midland.
Ha nice! I grew up in Troy, school in AA, parents live up in Traverse City now - heading to see them for a week in July. My roommate in college was from Midland.

I've got cousins from Troy, parents and brother now live in AA. What year did you graduate high school?

That's not their fault, really; they're popular, and they don't (didn't) want to expand by taking on debt and diluting the company. It's a very organic growth process where they've taken full ownership instead of borrowing. I love that. But at the same time, I have no interest in standing in line.

My thoughts exactly on RR. It's their business and they can run it however they want. I just choose not to go these days. Plus, to be honest, other places have popped up in the last 3-5 years that are equal to if not better than RR so there's no longer the need.

This is true. But it's just so fun to complain! :)

Yup. Was passing through Santa Rosa last weekend. I swung by Cooperage and Henhouse and didn't even consider RR.

Well I've been there 3 times in the last year and haven't waited more than 20 minutes. Important to get there around opening.

Anyone been to Novel Brewing on San Pablo in Oakland? Drove by it the other day and didn't realize it even existed. http://www.novelbrewing.com/
Was technically their first customer the other week. Nice space pretty typical of most new quasi industrial site breweries. Beers were fine. They had a dubbel, nitro stout and a Pilsner I think. It's real close to where I live, so we will see if it'll be a stop on my way home from fieldwork/rare barrel.

I think that's a thing with the modern times club members. Everyone gets a coin with their membership. If you interact with another member, and they show their coin to you, you have to show yours back or you buy a round. Something like that.

Only know this from listening to 99% Invisible

I guess it was the Fieldwork reference that confused me. I assumed all that nonesence only applied at the brewery itself?

No-one challenge me for my Chleophus Quealy coin, I lost it the first week I got it.

The coin also entitles you to bottles marked up 30% higher than the retail shelf price.
