I'm waiting for an influx of people to say the next beer is awesome before buying them. Pretty dissapointed with them lately.
Opened second bottle of the Devils Advocate, maybe I had a bad first bottle? Tonight it was a lot closer to what I anticipated....based on tonight I will try 1 more, I enjoyed tonights bottle.

I may have to bite the $10 bullet and give it a try.

Hello everyone, I coincidentally planned a family trip to SF during the last few days of SF beer week. Anyone have any recs on what events to hit? I think I will try to make the firkin fest at Magnolia but we arrive earlier that day (Feb 12) so not sure how busy we will be. Staying at the Courtyard on 2nd St. Planning on hitting Cellarmaker, Rare Barrel, maybe Russian River, maybe SARA, not sure about others. Any recs for other breweries? Is SARA worth the trip if bottles aren't available?

Not sure about the events but to answer your last question, ABSOLUTELY worth the trip.

Ok good, I was hoping that would be the answer. Now I just need to find stuff to do in that area to justify driving the family down there.... :)

SARA is absolutely worth the trip. I may also be in the minority but I like the smaller events during beer week instead of the big ones(Sour Sunday, DIPA Fest are the 2 obvious ones). The 2 I definitely plan on doing this year are the SARA Tap Takeover at Trappist on the 10th and the Cellarman release at Triple Rock on the 13th.

That is not very hard. You have beaches very close by. Sant Cruz is minutes away as well. And some very good eateries.

Monterey Bay Aquarium isn't far, and Año Nuevo (one of the few Elephant Seal mating grounds) is right up the road, both pretty family-friendly things that you can really only get in that area.

Which Trappist? Last year at Provisions it was some serious balls-to-ass action. Not sure I want to do that again.

I'll probably stick mostly to ticketed events, Sau & Brau is always good, plus whatever beer dinners pop up. If my Bistro buddy is back in town after moving to Denver I'll hit up DIPA fest, otherwise FEH.

How was the Gala last year? I hated it in 2012 but it would be nice to get a chance to tick a lot of this new local **** that I'm otherwise blissfully ignorant of.

Provisions.

Looks like Gala is sold out already. Gonna try going to some events this year but not much seems much better than staying home and drinking

Well, I guess I'm not doing the Gala then. Easy decision.

I'm definitely on the fence about going to Provisions for that. It was "definitely a fire code violation" crowded last year and I hate that, especially in Provisions because there is just NO ESCAPE, plus they didn't even bring in extra staff for it so service was super slow.

Looking through the East Bay list I don't see much, I'll be doing Sau & Brau and Cleophus Quealy has a couple of neat-sounding releases, but I might end up with another light itinerary this year. Though maybe MrFootstones will bring back the shitshow Beer Rev events.

After looking at the schedule, there are a couple of events I wouldn't mind going to but I know it will be a **** show. Just too many people to really enjoy it IMO.

I was just thinking that drinking at Cellarmaker or driving to SARA sounds more fun than most events listed
Same, wasn't really impressed with the events listed so far. I'll try and go to the Albany Taproom event since it's local and a good spot. Doubt it gets too crazy. SF Beer Week compared to DC/Chicago/Cleveland beer week is pretty damn tame in terms of events.

Not sure if the wife will swing it, but if I'm able to, are there any chicagoland bottles that anyone out there would want? I wouldn't mind a share out there if I have time. Or any IP trades are good too. I should mention that I'm not in Chicago proper so can't really get to breweries very easily, but can get most shelf stuff out where I am.

2014 Prop. K thnx.

Not srs. But I'm down for a bottleshare if our schedules work

I will likely briefly find myself in SF tomorrow (1/1) afternoon around 2:30, but Cellarmaker is closed all day. Barrelheads sounds interesting if they're open.

I will likely stop by RR and Bottlecraft this Friday (1/2) between 11 AM and 12:30 PM.

I don't know what I'll be wearing, or not ;), but a dark blue billabong hoodie or black ZX jacket will be on top, and I'll wear a brown hurley hat to help out. PM for for number if interested.

See, my confusion was that you posted yesterday (Friday, per the timestamp) saying you'd be there "tomorrow," meaning to me Saturday, whereas you meant you'd be there Friday.

I made plans to go, but when I saw your post this afternoon and realized we had a 24-hour discrepancy, I had a sad.

It's ok though... I kind of like my streak of never having visited Rare Barrel, Shelf Turd Alley, or Wale Warehouse.
Was drunk, thought it was still Thursday. Didn't realize it was almost 1 AM Friday.

If I had use of an independent car I would've already been able to meet a few of you at a brewery/bar/back alley/truck stop.

Crap I see this now. I took my son to the movies. Sorry I missed this bud
**** man.. sorry I missed this. We were up touring random towns today and were on the outskirts all day, most of which had no cell coverage. ****, I lie..my phone was put away and dead as we tripped thru Forestville, Guerneville, and Occidental. LMK next time you are in the area so we can rendezvous.
No worries, was last minute. My family has to wrangle a lot of people and get in all the relative visiting and whatnot while everyone's here.
Went to Woodfour (very good) and ended up at Third Street Aleworks (meh) because RR had a line down the block.
