Some of their beer is pretty good. My buddy who bartends there brings it by every now and then.
To each their own. Granted I haven't had every one of their beers, nor been there in last 6 months, but we disagree.

Pretty pumped about having a brew pub 3 blks from my house when I moved to berkeley, but the amount of good beers I've had from there (2-4) versus the amount of bad experiences including beers coming out flat, tasteless, etc... I just gave up and stopped going.

I'm thinking I will try and hit some combination of The Rare Barrel, Cellarmaker, City Beer and Toronado Still figuring things out. I land at 11:30am on Tuesday (9/23) and I have the rest of the day to myself. Wednesday and Thursday are (early) meetings and (late) dinners, and Friday I fly back east.

Thanks Arbitrator for the beerbybart info. Very helpful. If any local Tb'ers are free that Tuesday, let me know. Would rather meet good people than float about by myself.

Just a hea

Just a heads up, Rare Barrel is only open on Friday and Saturday (and Sunday starting 9/21, apparently).

When you go look for a skinny white bartender with a beard. That's my buddy and he won't steer you wrong.

Just telling you fuckers now, the headzo is really, really good. Got my sample taste, and am pretty amazed. Not a lot of beers in the neighborhood of 18%, that can also mask the alcohol well and taste delicious. Worth getting.

I like 1500, Hopocalypse black label(the DIPA, the TIPA sucks) Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta. I don't like much else from Drakes. Not enough to drop $25 on what I think is a 500 mL bottle.

I have never had a Drake's beer worth $25, and I have been drinking it for almost 10 years.

I might stop by the brewery for a growler fill to send to an SD buddy, or I'll go to Altamont on Saturday. Let's make some plans via PM.
If you came Sunday I'd be free to go to Altamont. :(

I was hesitant at first too, but it being over 18% helps justify it, along with the taster I had of it. Took me over 20 mins to down 5 ounces, and I usually go through beer like water. You gotta get some dude.

can anyone suggest a place to watch the 49ers tmw? cellarmaker closes at 8 and i don't want to get booted in the 4th quarter. somewhere where i'll easily get a good view of a good sized TV (not toronado) with good beer. bonus points if it's not full of ppl.

Public House

Although Giants vs Dodgers game will just be ending

does anyone know if cellarmaker is cool with bottle shares? it'd be small, just a few bottles.

Just had this chat with drgarage yesterday about BYOB spots in SF. Wing Wings is a great, potential spot and close to Toronado. We have also BYOB at Cat's Head BBQ a short ways from City Beer Store and Cellarmaker.

My favorite BYOB spot is Shanghai Dumpling King in the Outer Richmond (SF) and of course SARA

Yeah, we ran through a lot of options, but Tuesdays make it hard, as Cat's Head and Wing Wings are closed on Tuesday. Greenburger's used to be a good option, but they're closed...

wht's with these damn places not allowing us good law abiding patrons the pleasure of enjoying some good beer... How dare they. Stupid California laws lol.
