IMO, you’re missing out if you don’t do an east bay day. Rare Barrel, Drakes (I’m normally not a fan but their tasting room tap list is always interesting), Beer Revolution, Faction, St. George’s spirits…
And the North Bay, for that matter...

Are those sides easy/inexpensive to get to without a car?

What's in North Bay?

North Bay is a pain with no car. East Bay is easy by Bart and ferry.

In the North Bay:
-- Russian River
-- Flavor Bistro
-- Bear Republic
-- Woodfour
-- Lagunitas
-- Taps
-- HopMonk Tavern
-- Mill Valley BeerWorks (better food than beer, really)
-- Marin and Moylan's
-- Baeltane

I'll be in San Fran next week and am looking for some help with my itinerary. We'll be in town from Sept. 8-13. This is what I've got.

Day 1
----------------------------
Fly to SFO
Downtown SF by 2pm
Lunch : Tommy's Joynt (if neccesary)
Chinatown
Dinner in Chinatown or Sentinel
Mikkeller Bar (Near Chinatown)
Toronado

Day 2
----------------------------
Breakfast/Coffee : Linea Caffe
Mission Dolores
Mission Dolores Park
Valencia St.
Lunch : Pizzeria Delfina
Dessert : Bi-Rite Creamery
Twin Peaks
Dinner : The American Grilled Chesse Kitchen
Giants Vs. D-backs (7:15pm)
21st Amendment Brewing Co.
Cellarmaker Brewing Co.
City Beer Store

Day 3
-----------------------------
Breakfast/Coffee : Blue Bottle
Golden Gate Bridge
Golden Gate Park
Eagle Point Labrinth/Lands end
Lunch : Papalote or King of Noodles
Mall
Magnolia Brewing Co.
Dinner : Sushi (What's the best sushi place? I was thinking Saru or Wako.)
Toronado

Day 4
-----------------------------
Breakfast/Coffee : Blue Bottle
Whale Watch (8am-1pm)
Lunch : In-N-Out Burger
Telegraph Hill/Coit tower
Lombard St.
Pier 39
Dinner : Hog Island Oysters
Church Key
Cellarmaker Brewing Co.

I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Civic Center so I'll be right by Cellarmaker and City Beer Store. I still have 1 more day to plan for. Any suggestions? How does the itinerary look so far? I was wanting to rent a car and go to SARA and Monterrey but that isn't going to work out. How is Fort Funston? Is there any public transit to Muir Woods or the Marin Headlands? We will not have a car.

Also, my buddy really wants to try Cable Car. Is it pure luck at Toronado or is there any trick to getting a bottle for consumption? If that's not really realistic and someone would be willing to share a Cable Car and/or West Ashley (my personal should have had but haven't) we have plenty of beers we could bring. Speaking for myself - Zwanze 2010, Selection Lambic 99, 1980's Rodenbach, De Neve, Fou Foune, St. Lamvinus, Matt, AftW, Wild Peach, Hommage, and/or BA9k. I know my buddy has VSB and Earl of Biggleswade that I could probably convince him to bring.

Thanks for the help.

Itinerary looks great. One suggestion

Day 1:

Grab dinner at R&G Lounge in Chinatown and grab a Chinese Mai Tai at Li Po before and/or after dinner. Trust me.

Eat at Papalote, Cancun, and Farolito for burritos.

Skip Fort Funston, it is more of a local park south of Ocean Beach popular for dog walkers.

To get to the Marin Headlands grab the Muni 76x. Special weekend only bus, you can take it one way and hike back through the headlands and across the GG Bridge:

No easy public transportation to Muir Woods.

My suggestion is opt for a hike in the Presidio or Golden Gate Park. Or I have a killer hike hitting some under the radar parks, including Mt Sutro with a stop at Magnolia Brewery.

Ask to see the bottle list at Toronado, doubt it will be on there but they make random appearances. Usually something good on the list or you could easily setup an IP trade with that ammo.

PM if you need any suggestions or help.

Just note that City Beer closes at 10pm, so post-7pm Giants game might not work out so well. And absolutely go to Public House at the Giants stadium.
Yes! Get to-go beer from Public House and then use the ticketed entrance inside the bar to carry your cheap and amazing beer inside!

Beer Craft is a must. They continually have stuff on tap from Celllar Maker and Sante Adairius. I've never seen either of those breweries on tap at Toronado.

Just so you won't be utterly disappointed, but the AGCK near the ballpark closes at 5pm. Guess they only cater to the working stiffs.

FfaC October 1st. Forget because the Beatification release was such a clusetfuck, how has FfaC release(s) gone?

fktBFVW.jpg

Last year, FfaC was a silent "it's out, come get it today" type deal, metered every hour. It wasn't terrible. Every release that RR announces weeks in advance becomes a clusterfuck, so I expect this one will be, too. Good thing -- it's been a few months since they last **** the bed.

They allocated 12 bottles for people for the first hour or two, I believe, and then sold six for the remainder. I don't remember how long it lasted, but I got mine a day or two after the initial sale.

Also, am I reading into this too much, or is this a hop forward version completely different from the last few? I guess it's all speculative now.

"All hopped up for the cure" was their tagline in the past, as well.

Actually... I should try and trade my vertical (2010-2013) to some of the n00bs that will undoubtedly be in line for this release as their first time. KBS should do it.

So much for Blind Pig being brewery only, just picked up 2 bottles at my local place. Dated middle of August.

Yeah, I heard they sent out a bunch this week. I guess they couldn't sell it all at the brewery or something.

No complaints from me, will be back tomorrow and Saturday no worries. Just happy to grab some after a few week absence.
