Fraggle left.
Been to 7 beer stores in the last 24 hours, how the **** did Beer Revolution go from the cheapest (or at least relatively wise) to the most expensive? I mean it used to be that Beer Rev was on par with Star Grocery and Berkeley Bowl, but now it seems to be out pricing Trappist Provisions and OL Beer Cafe, that is some going.

Out of the shops (exuding Beer Rev)I went to 3F Oude Kriek ranged from $14.29 up to $15.50. Beer Rev it has it on its shelves for $19.99.
Consecration is $11 in Trappist Provisions, get Beer Rev wants $13 for a bottle.
Even Fantome is $3 more expensive than Trappist and Ol. Its fast becoming not even worth stopping for bottles there anymore.
Oh but they do have Pliny and Blind Pig on the shelves on Sundays. I was issed off enough to not bother picking up any Pig, rather go without and spend at more price friendly spots these days.
What's Monument charging these days?On that note, I stopped by OL yesterday and was disappointed to see Cons going for $12. It's about on par with what I expect, it's just that OL used to sell for $10 when everyone else was selling for $12. That and their Cantillon scheme endears me less to that place. Still, when you are in the east of the east bay (I refuse to call it the East Bay) wasteland, there aren't many options.
Haven't been there in ages, but I remember they are generally quite reasonable. What's Monument charging these days?
Whole Foods is basically the only place I buy bottles any more, they have what you want more frequently than some of the other stores, and the beer manager (FunkyMacGroovin) is a super nice dude. But I think that I've bought 3 bottles off of a shelf this year, so I'm really not the best one for giving advice on this.Speaking of bottle shops, I'm making the move from SF to Oakland, buying my very first house. What are the generalizations of the good bottle shops?
Trappist Provisions
Beer Rev (they do to go?)
Whole Foods (downtown? other locations?)
Any other good ones I'm missing?
For example, in SF, I'd usually do Whole Foods for the more common stuff due to pricing, and Healthy Spirits/CBS/Bi-Rite for the more specialty stuff.
Well I used to work in Oakland, so I did the Oakland Bevmo/Beer Rev on my lunch break for things. Now, I primarily do Ledgers/Berkeley Bowl West for all my beer bottle needs. Like Stu, I dont buy asmany beers off the shelf that I used to. I've bought a few Sucaba this yr and the rest are random 6 packs for the house/parties I'm attending.Speaking of bottle shops, I'm making the move from SF to Oakland, buying my very first house. Is Sucaba still around, and is there any chance it still will be in ~9 days? I haven't gotten lucky in NYC/I'm not willing to pay $25++ for bottles.
I know, I know. I gotta go to Binny's?Coming to the Bay Area to get Firestone? You're doing it wrong.

Pretty sure I saw it on-shelf at Healthy Spirits Castro on Saturday. No idea on price. Is Sucaba still around, and is there any chance it still will be in ~9 days? I haven't gotten lucky in NYC/I'm not willing to pay $25++ for bottles.

Cantillon (including Fou Foune) at both Healthy Spirits locations. Wish I was closer. You're Welcome
Damn, last time they got a shipment, they announced it on my commute home. I hope there is something left after work today.Cantillon (including Fou Foune) at both Healthy Spirits locations. Wish I was closer. You're Welcome
Thanks! Got in just in time for a bottle of classic.Cantillon (including Fou Foune) at both Healthy Spirits locations. Wish I was closer. You're Welcome
My good deed for the day is done. Thanks! Got in just in time for a bottle of classic.
Yeah, that membership was great when I was a noob and it helped broaden my horizons to different styles I otherwise may have ignored, but after a year or so it got pretty tiring. Reserving Cantillon was basically the only benefit. Although they do let you switch out club beers, I had a friend who was in the club for reservations and switched his club beers to 3F gueuze/kriek every month, and after a few months of that they kicked him out.One of the few times, the beer membership is worth it, IMHO. Use to have one and could reserve certain beers, but the BOTM beers were ok at best.

They likely changed that option when they kicked him outThey failed to mention that option, unless it was no longer one. I would have met the same fate as your friend, switching out crappy smoke beers for some shelf lambic.
Yeah they didn't mention it to me until I quit because they gave us that ******* Rogue Donut beer. I was so pissed off when they did that, since NO ONE who drank that beer would think it was fit for public consumption, it just reeked of profiteerism (as in, "we're not going to get rid of this ******* **** any other way..."). I swapped it out for Gueuze too I think. They failed to mention that option, unless it was no longer one. I was there early, one of the bar tenders even almost smiled!Toronado updated yet again, the fifth day in a row. Its online draft list is now more up-to-date than:
-- Mikkeller Bar
-- City Beer
-- Hopwater Distribution
-- SF Beer Hall
WHAT'S GOING ON?
