Thanks for asking. They're the next ridge over to the west, so they've been safe so far. Lost power and phone, so they evacuated early this morning. Keeping our fingers crossed for the house and farm.

I'll be driving down south for a quick trip next weekend, staying in Santa Cruz on Sat/Sun and SF on Monday for NIN. anything I should look for on tap or on the shelf around town?

Yeah I mean if it’s the best price and location combo, I’d just go for it and say you’re storing wine. Might depend on if they have multiple access points. Mine actually doesn’t want you to walk through the store front part - they want to you to use your code on a separate door.

planning on hitting up SARA and Cellarmaker, possibly Fieldwork and a trip to Alvarado St in Monterey. aside from those, i'm ideally looking for dark beers and cider.

Good Ramen in San Mateo too. I got to Ramen Dojo right when they opened and got seated as a single immediately.

Vinnie was on the Full Pint podcast recently. Some interesting points:

• They can more or less double their production with the new facility.
• They have no plans to expand beyond this. It is their "dream brewery."
• With new capacity, they are going to mostly send more to their current accounts, at least at first.
• They are always looking to try new things (uuuh, sure). But Vinnie does want to start doing basically fruited Beat which sounds fun.
• No canning plans (though they have the space for it) because of too much excessive DO (dissolved oxygen) vs. bottling. I'd like to raise this point to the more scientific minds around these parts in a separate thread.
• Happy Hops is their answer to the hazy IPA craze

I believe this was Shaun Hill's prior justification for why HF wouldn't can, and that appears to have been rectified and/or they just wanted that sweet can money?

thanks for all the recs! ended up taking 1 along the coast and stopped for fish tacos at Guerrero's. unfortunately I didn't know the Taco Bell out there served alcohol, my bad.

stopped into City Beer and had a few Speedway variants we don't see in OR (coffee cake, marzipan, hazelnut) and scooped up a bottle of the red currant Tilquin for $33 - very stoked on that. Toronado and NIN tonight than driving home tomorrow. thanks for a great time, bay area!

I think most rotund, white, beardy guys get that comparison once in a while. When I was in Atlantic City for the Halloween Phish shows years ago, some dude from the hood was convinced I was actually him... I was walking into a casino bathroom when suddenly, "Hey! It's my boy Zach Galifianakis!" And proceeded to give me a bear hug. I decided I might as well play along, and the dude gave me a bag of weed. Good times.

Anywho, I'll be in your (bay) area in a couple of weeks. I'll check in for more updates on what's going on in 10 days or so. Continue your regular shenanigans.
