Sorry I didn't stay to chat, I was trying to beat the sun home since I was biking and needed to get out of there ASAP. Should've left earlier, I went right into a giant pothole while going pretty fast.

No worries man, I'm sure there will be hella more small events like this for big hangouts. Also, potholes are the ******* worst.

Work event got done super late and didn't even bother showing up to Rarrel (it would have been 10). How was it? I'll probably swing by tomorrow.

The event was great. Very small crowd, I'd say around 75-100 heads? Once the first round of drinks was in hands of thirsty founders, every pour after that was a breeze. Great lineup, and the Ensorcelled ******* kicks ass . One of the best American Sours I've had.

I was guessing more like 60 showed up by the time I left, but either way it was less crowded than your typical Saturday.

In the barrels we blended a classic Belgian-style red ale with local cherries and a cocktail of wild Belgian and American yeasts, including San Francisco Sourdough starter. The yeasts slowly morph the beer from a traditional ale into something wild, creating a mild acidic bite as well as pulling oak and vanilla flavors from the barrel.

I'm confused...or is this just a cut and paste job from the Dogpatch Sour they didn't update?

Notice they stress "like 1000lbs of strawberries". I think they've heard what people are saying and moved to make a change. Time will tell.

Never had an issue with the amount of fruit flavour, going to say you might be over thinking this one( and putting more weight on the vocal Internet majority than is warranted)

Also would guess they listen to sales data before Internet gossip, but maybe I am mistaken.

No, I agree with him. So do most people on this board from what I've seen.

They need to step up their jammy jams hard.

So maybe they listened and added the '1000 lbs' in response to the (small #) of comments...oh hold on they added the 1000lbs months ago.

I guess I respect the opinion of needing to up the fruit,
( don't agree but I can respect it),just not the assumption of them Suddenly emphasizing the amount used

I'm really liking the Almanac sours, but they are all lacking a pronounced fruit flavor, it's very subtle. Not really complaining though, I still buy them since they are all still really ******* good.
The only one that really exploded with fruit was Farmers' 4 -- especially now. It's the most lemony beer ever made.

....except for Sourdough. Please delete recipe.

Their pre-Dogpatch yeast strain sours (Farmers 1-4) seemed more jammy to me.

Would that be so hard to believe? Many brewers are really active in forums (here, BA, Reddit, etc.) and definitely take feedback into account. Almanac is not some huge commercial machine that ignores the praises and criticisms of its customers. I'm more inclined to think that they did listen to feedback and are tweaking accordingly.

And even if they didn't, who cares? Why call someone out for making an assumption when the only real issue here is whether or not the beer's good?

My concern: jammy? Or no jammy?

I agree. The problem is the Dogpatch Yeast blend. They're so excited to talk about using a sourdough starter that they've wound up with something that makes worse beer.

I had a Farmer's Reserve 3 at Monk's Kettle during SF Beer Week in February and it seemed to me like the strawberries were STRONGER than when I tried it last summer. The new blackberry one has a real nice strong smell to it but the same subtle taste of the other recent Almanac sours. But yeah, still really damn good!

Damn, happened to be the weekend I am gone from the area. Dangit, ****, poop, caca.

Why does it say "SOLD OUT! 7 left?" Is it sold out or are there 7 left?
My guess is they are probably reserved for friends/family/employees/family of employees/VIPs, especially if they need to cap the event at a concrete number of people

I'm gonna be at Sante Adairius tomorrow with some friends, and hopefully bringing some beer if there is any left from a tasting we're having tonight. If anyone else is there and wants to say hi, I'm the white guy with the beard. So I'm afraid you're going to have to ask everyone there if they are me (Cameron). But seriously, I'll probably be wearing a Hill Farmstead shirt.
