Anything special going on this week?
I'll be coming into the Bay Area, not sure which day.
Checking out what you guys have to offer.
Figure if there's a special sour release, I'd maybe try to line it up on a day trip...

I'll have some good beer with me. Casey, Stave...

Where will you be staying, and for how long? That will determine a lot because breweries are pretty spread out around here.

I assume you'll want to hit Sante, in which case you should just check their FB page daily to see if any bottles are available. They don't announce before the day of release.

Not a sour release, but sounds like Cellarmaker will have some good fresh stuff all week long:

Guessing I'll pop down tomorrow for some fresh Moonage Daydream...

Actually staying near Reno, NV. Hoping to hit a few Breweries in one day if possible.
Day tripping that way, probably tomorrow if Tuesday isn't a stupid day for that.
Hopefully if the drive isn't too bad, we can come a second day later in the week.

Definitely hitting Sante, hoping for a good day. Good to know they don't announce day before.
Cellarmaker looking solid.

I have a couple extra De Garde, Casey, and Stave if anybody has some local sours they might want to trade.

If coming from Reno check the weather. Heard on radio it's better to take 80 today than tomorrow.

Drove until 4:20am. So fawking tired today, staying around Reno.
Thanks for the heads up though, will definitely keep weather in mind!

Going to be a killer week at CM:

Tues: Daydream Galaxy Pale Ale and R U Afraid of Dank? (can't wait for this)
Wed: Southern Passion single hop IPA
Fri: Maximum Joy IPA

Expect to see several of us killing brain cells there.

Sante to Reno is at least a 5 hour trip each way, and that's if you don't run into any traffic over the hill, through the bay or in Sac. That's a long day trip, good luck.

Also, Reno has a pretty solid beer scene these days. If I were you, I'd head over to Truckee and stick to the pubs in Reno for the most part.

After further discussion, and not giving ***** about inclement weather and spending extra on another hotel...
Napa tomorrow, then beer rounds Wednesday.

Any suggestions on hotels in the beer areas are welcome.
Thanks everyone for all of your insight, it really is helpful and appreciated.

Napa is not super close to Russian River, Lagunitas, or any of the other Sonoma county spots. If your goal is to hit those places, I'd go straight there and skip Napa. If you want to spend time in Napa, the Hilton Garden Inn is solid/reasonably priced and just north of downtown. The Bounty Hunter is decent for BBQ and drinks.

If you're in Sonoma, decide where you want to go. You can have a full day between Russian River and Lagunitas. If you're like me, you'll probably not be able to drive after Russian River and Lagunitas back-to-back, especially if you plan on hitting a third spot like Hopmunk or something else up there. Find a DD or use Uber or cabs and make Petaluma or Santa Rosa your "home base". If you hit Russian River first, then go south to Lagunitas, and want to spend the night, check out the Sheraton Petaluma or Sonoma Creek Inn. Tons of alcohol options around Sonoma county.

From there, it's an easy trip on Wednesday to the city for Cellarmaker (they open at noon on Wednesday). I recommend grabbing a couple half-pints, grabbing a growler (or two) and doing lunch at the food trucks at SOMA Streat Food Park, or hitting one of the local famous burrito joints (ask Ryan_G for recs).

After lunch, it'll take a couple hours to drive down to Sante. Go 280, it's a great drive. Watch yourself over 17, it's sketchy for first-timers. Sante will be open at Noon this Wednesday if you want to get their earlier and skip the city festivities.

I like to go to Sante, have some beers, walk around Capitola or the beach, and grab dinner at Aptos BBQ. Stay a while, drink more local beer (tons of local taps) and check out the live music. Aptos is more expensive for hotels, but you can go back to Santa Cruz for the evening. Mission Inn is nice and has a hot tub for closer to $100. The Boardwalk and Wharf can be fun places at night too.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

If you end up going through Berkeley tomorrow, sounds like Fieldwork is tapping a bourbon-barrel aged maple brown ale with growlers available.

any sightings?

I was down at the Stone store in Pasadena last week and they were talking about how the first wave of this sold out quicker than they anticipated. the store was just getting a fresh delivery in and they mentioned it was starting to be distributed.

I have to say it was the only Stone beer I had that was decent, this stuff was all kinds of awesome.

Village Market got it, thought they sold out already. So it is in SF apparently.

I'm in no rush; I'll wait until I'm down south later this week.

Anyone have any idea how many Rare there might be at CBS?
The Willows got like 5-6 cases of Rare, guessing CBS will have more. Some BevMo's think they are also getting Rare. Don't be surprised if by Fir eve, Rare stock plummets and by Monday morning you'll have to sling it for some KBS, at best.

The Willows sells to go bottles? First time hearing about this place and hell I'm right by it.

Almost went to the willows.

City beer store was legit, so was Basil Thai across the street.
Scored a few Pliny's, ****** shelf turds.
