I'm a Russian River noob. Is there a way to get Beatification without standing in line for a fortnight? (Like, do bottles tend to still be in stock a few days after the initial rush... if it ever ends?) Also, what's so unique about this release that makes people go loco?

Also, on an unrelated note, has anyone been to Black Hammer Brewing on Bryant Street in SF yet? Looks like it just opened and early reviews seem good.

No.

Each release gets more popular and loco as people get into beer/discover sours/get a raise/etc.

Still have a case+ of batch6. Have enjoyed it each time I've opened it...but it's gotta be approaching it's peak right? Then again I've heard people do the full vert and still pulling awesome flavors out of some really old bottles (for our standards).

So these are listed underneath the current taps on Cellarmaker's website:

Southern Dobis

Mo Citra

Highway to the DANKER Zone

Here's hoping that means each of these stellar beers are returning soon.

It's back? Where was it? That's a semi-serious question.

It was off of Littlefield in the industrial center of South SF.

Armstrong works/worked at Genentech, which has a surprisingly large number of pretty damn good homebrewers. Must be all that chemistry and microbiology experience...

The guys know how to do sours, although I've not had any from them. Should be interesting, and pretty close to my work so I'll have to check it out in the next week or so.

From RR's Facebook, regarding Beatification:

"In an effort to help speed up the line, we will have additional handheld devices with which to process orders faster."

"We made about 500 cases of this batch, so there is a very strong possibility that it may be available for more than one day."

Maybe it won't be so bad this year? Fingers crossed?

Full deets. Back door action.

Here is the scoop on the Beatification release on Sunday Sept. 20th:
Beatification is our 100% spontaneously fermented beer aged in used wine barrels. We affectionately call the base beer "Sonambic" as a friendly nod to our Lambic-style brewing mentors in Belgium. Bottle sales will begin at 8AM out the back rollup door of the pub on the parking lot side and continue until there is no one left in line or we run out. There is a 6 bottle limit per person, no growlers. Bottles of whatever else is currently available will also be for sale out the back door- no merchandise, growlers, food, or draft beer. Pub will open for business as usual at 11AM entering through the front door on 4th Street. Bottles of Beatification will NOT be for sale in the pub that day, only out the back door. But it will be available to drink inside! In an effort to help speed up the line, we will have additional handheld devices with which to process orders faster. We ask anyone who shows up early to send the line East toward the back entrance of the pub. Please help us extend common courtesy to our neighboring businesses and other downtown visitors by NOT smoking or blocking business entrances. No drinking in line- it's illegal. We made about 500 cases of this batch, so there is a very strong possibility that it may be available for more than one day. I will absolutely keep you posted via Facebook! Our pub will be the only place in the world that Beatification bottles are available. If bottles are leftover the following week, sales will be as usual through the pub. Check out our website for what's currently available on tap and in the bottle! Finally, in the spirit of our usual weather karma on release days, perhaps we will get a nice big dose of much-needed rain!

And I'm out. anyone gopickitupformebro for a couple of bottles?

I'm bummed about the six bottle limit, for selfish reasons. But it should spread the wealth a little more. Sounds like it should be a more pleasant experience than six, but less pleasant than five when I strolled into the restaurant on a weekend with friends and ordered bottles with my lunch.

B5 also had six bottle limit per person.

What do y'all think, $20/bottle this year?

Also, this part:

Our pub will be the only place in the world that Beatification bottles are available.

Not sure if informative, or extra fluffing.

Toronado for sure during sfbw.

I finally checked out Toro a little over a week ago. Hopped off the Caltrain, hopped on the N, waited for the sunlight, hopped off the N and was there in about 3 minutes.

I guess I passed their test, as one of the regulars offered the bar seat next to his, and the bartender actually chatted with me a bit. Guess I don't look like a beer tourist and/or a hipster.

Hopping on the 6 to get nearer Cellarmaker gave me some unplanned entertainment, too. A bunch of young gansta wannabee teens were yapping, loudly, about a hotel room they were renting out to party with some hoes. A lot of the tourists jumped off the stop after they had started in. I just sat there with an amused look on my face, and fought the urge to ask them for more details about the party. I would have offered to bring a few growlers...

There have been kegs at events for months now. I had a few pours at fermentation fest a couple weekends ago.

Oh [gets stupid look on face]. I guess come to think of it, there was an event recently in SD where the Beatification may have been present. I've never really been a RR fanboy, so it may have not registered.

They will just put it on the board, which will result in a SoCal influx line the following weekend, though the first couple of mornings and all evenings that week will have lines wrapped around the block from locals, underemployed, #newmoney, and the patient-est of the beer geeks who have been doing this for too long.

Price will be $20, limit 6, and the beer will become unbearably acidic after 1 year.

Midwest will flood BA's ISO/FT with goandpickitupformebro, citing high bottle counts.

- Arbidamus

Well, I was pretty close. Should have realized they'd give a lot of notice. Where's your head at Arbi.

LOL. I thought they made enough Beat and people were kinda "over" it that it would still be hanging around the first weekend of October when I'm going to Sonoma. Boy am I an idiot.
